The Elusive “Montana Cowgirl”
5 Aug 2012
9:30 pm
Matt Vespa
AFPF just concluded their Defending the American Dream Summit at the Washington Hilton this past weekend and at one of the panels, which I was unable to attend, there was a discussion about the elusive Montana Cowgirl. Cowgirl is a liberal blogger who is exceptional at ascertaining information on conservative activists. With four sessions occurring at the same time, it’s impossible to see everything, but luckily R.S. McCain was able to blog about the discussion surrounding this troublemaker.
Who is “Montana Cowgirl?” As Stacy mentioned in his post on August 4th:
It is …

If T-Paw Is Picked, We Need To Make Peace With It

As buzz around Mitt Romney’s VP pick intensifies, many on the right are pushing hard for Paul Ryan. After AFPF’s Defending the American Dream Summit, Robert Stacy McCain, on his drive home, actually pulled over to a local Burger King to declare his support for Ryan as Mitt’s running mate:
There is no time now to fully explain the emergency nature of this post, but let me quickly make three points:
My hatred of media “veepstakes” speculation is well-known. When I turn on the TV and see a bunch of pundits talking about who might …

Chick-fil-a Appreciation Day Resounding Success

Standing up for Free Speech
(Fox News) It used to be that taking a bite of a chicken sandwich just meant you were hungry. Now it has become a symbol of whether you stand for or against same-sex marriage, or – alternately – the right to express your personal views without fear of retaliation.
At Chick-fil-A locations across the country, people voted with their wallets today, coming out to express support for the fast-food chain after CEO Dan Cathy said in an interview that he is a firm backer …

HuffPo Editorial Director Howard Fineman: Romney Supporters ‘Xenophobic’ and ‘Nativist’
29 Jul 2012
1:00 pm
Warner Todd Huston
On a July 23 appearance on MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews, Huffington Post Editorial Director and former Newsweek Editor Howard Fineman accused Mitt Romney of pandering to a “xenophobic” Republican Party, a racist party, he said, that is “afraid of the world.”
During a discussion of Michele Bachmann’s questions about Hillary Clinton aid Huma Abedin’s possible familial ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, host Chris Matthews asked the left-wing HuffPo editor why Mitt Romney doesn’t “have the guts” to stand up to those in his own party. In reply, Fineman slammed Romney …

On the ground with Tea Party Express in support of Ted Cruz
25 Jul 2012
2:26 pm
Dustin Siggins
For the next week I’ll be down in Dallas and other parts of Texas with the Tea Party Express (TPE) on a week-long junket/bus tour/mobile phone bank to help GOP Senate candidate Ted Cruz pull off the victory formerly known as improbable against the Texas GOP establishment . I’m hanging out with people like former Reagan staffer Sal Russo, who founded the Tea Party Express, and hopefully will get to rub elbows with Senators DeMint, Paul and Lee later this week — as well as other famous conservatives — as …

Rep. Renee Ellmers Details Obama’s War on Self Worth
24 Jul 2012
11:50 am
Matt Vespa
Smart Girl Politics’s annual summit concluded this past weekend with a solid slate of conservative women detailing the importance of being engaged in the national political discourse. We hear all the time about how women, especially those of a conservative mold, are marginalized, attacked, and degraded by the liberal media and their allies without mercy. The so-called “war on women,” Obamacare, get out the vote, and leftist depravity were all focal points throughout the conference that was held at the Westin Hotel in Alexandria.
Rep. Renee Ellmers was one of the …

Solyndra Republicans, Why the GOP Cannot be Trusted
22 Jul 2012

Warner Todd Huston
On Friday, July 20, Politico reported that GOP leadership in the House beat back an attempt by recalcitrant members of their own caucus to continue to quietly support the sort of pork spending that gave us Solyndra in the first place.
House GOP leadership has been beating the Democrats up for the pure wasteful spending that was Democrat support for the now bankrupted “green energy” company Solyndra. But a few Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committee wanted to buck the anti-bailout theme and quietly keep the spending program that …

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers for VP
13 Jul 2012

Romney needs a solid conservative running mate on the Republican ticket. In 2012, we have more solid VP names being talked about lately. Bobby Jindal, Chris Christie, Marco Rubio, Rob Portman, Bob McDonnell and others have been mentioned would be superb choices. However, I do agree with the Wall Street Journal, in the case of Christie, that two Northeastern governors on the ticket won’t sit well with the base.
Rep. Allen West is a fighter and I would be happy to see him be chosen to be our next VP. However, …

The Dumb Way Mitt Romney And Other Conservatives Deal With The NAACP
12 Jul 2012

If you’re a conservative and you want to give a speech about abortion, would you do it at Planned Parenthood? If you’re in the GOP and you want to do an event designed to appeal to women, would you ask NOW to gather a crowd for you? If you’re a Republican candidate who wants to talk to grassroots activists, would you reach out to MOVEON?
No, of course not.
So why, in the world, do we still have Republicans treating the NAACP like it represents black Americans as opposed to liberal black …

Dept. of Homeland Sec. Again Calls Patriotic Americans ‘Potential Terrorists’
11 Jul 2012
12:06 pm
Warner Todd Huston
Are you a patriotic American that thinks that our American way of life is in danger? Are you a Tea Partier? If so, Obama’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) wants you to know that you might be a terrorist. Or, at least, the DHS wants to characterize you as a potential terrorist, anyway.
Once again the DHS is warning that believing in American exceptionalism or hailing from the right side of American politics is a dangerous thing, just as they did in 2009. It might be recalled that in 2009 the …

Why Conservative Bloggers Care About Brett Kimberlin
11 Jul 2012
10:24 am
John Hawkins
Over at Salon, Alex Pareene, who has apparently managed to parlay riding Ana Marie Cox’s coattails at Wonkette into a career, was puzzled by the fact that conservative bloggers are up in arms about Brett Kimberlin. This isn’t surprising since Pareene isn’t smart enough to analyze anything that requires brainpower and is such a mediocre writer that he couldn’t explain it if he did. He’s like Andrew Sullivan’s thought process mixed with Conor Friedersdorf’s writing ability.
Anyway, badly written piece short, Pareene is to the surprise of no one, completely baffled …

Turning Massachusetts Red

Sunshine State Sarah
As many of you know, I left Florida to come to Massachusetts for this election, to help Sean Bielat’s Congressional race. I miss my family and friends in the Sunshine State, but this has been an incredible experience so far. One of the more interesting aspects for me has been observing the activities of the Massachusetts Republicans, and some very promising developments in conservative grassroots activism around the southeastern part of the state.
The MassGOP, who I’ve characterized as “merry pranksters” for stunts like this, are very skilled at making a big impact with limited resources. In …

Chief Justice Roberts Reelected Barack Obama On Thursday

I know many of you may be upset at this article, but I think the election is now over. Obama will get a second term. I don’t say this happily, but barring any really controversial incident that makes Obama look bad — or worse than he is, I should say — it looks to me that he’s now unbeatable, especially by a Mitt Romney.
Now, before you get your undies in a bunch, no this doesn’t mean we should throw in the towel and quit. It always amazes me that people …

The House, Senate, and the Transportation Bill
29 Jun 2012
11:17 am
Dustin Siggins
Today, the House and Senate are set to vote on the conference version of the transportation bill. With a transportation cost of $120 billion, and a total cost of $271, it’s far lower in spending than what liberals want for a bill that funds until the end of Fiscal Year 2014, and far more than what House conservatives would like to spend. More than the typical difficulties of navigating an expensive bill through a divided Congress, however, are the hurdles the transportation bill faces.
First, funding for all transportation-related federal funding …

A Conservative Nirvana: The Most Privatized City Government In America
26 Jun 2012

John Hawkins
If the government at every level of this country was run like Sandy Springs, Georgia the economy would be thriving, spending would be under control, taxes would be lower, and Americans would have tremendous confidence in their public servants.
IF your image of a city hall involves a venerable building, some Roman pillars and lots of public employees, the version offered by this Atlanta suburb of 94,000 residents is a bit of a shocker.
The entire operation is housed in a generic, one-story industrial park, along with a restaurant and a …

Democrat’s Newest Attack on Free Political Speech With Willing Assistance by Media
22 Jun 2012

Warner Todd Huston
What would you say if a Koch Brothers, right-wing effort was pushed on Americans with the knowing assistance of National Public Radio — and big money was paid to NPR for the effort? Would you say that this is an outrage, that NPR’s use of public airwaves to push a right-wing policy idea is a misuse of the journalist’s charge as well as our national airwaves? Well, that is exactly what happened but with a left-wing idea, the policy of so-called campaign-finance reform.
A whistleblower whose career was built on pushing …

No, We DON’T Need More Gun Laws Over Maryland Teen Suicide
16 Jun 2012

Warner Todd Huston
A young Maryland boy named Joshua Eisner, 14, committed suicide early in June. He used a reproduction civil war era black powder rifle to do it. Now his father is launching an ill-advised and unnecessary drive to force more gun laws on Marylanders, pushing an idea he wants called “Joshua’s law.”
According to his obituary, young Joshua was interested in music and history, the latter being why he owned the old-style firearm. News reports say that he left no note explaining his actions, but that authorities classified his death as a …

Inexcusable: Thad McCotter Out of Congress Over Petition Sigs Snafu
4 Jun 2012

Warner Todd Huston
What an inelegant way for such an illustrious career to end — perhaps if only temporarily. Congressman Thad McCotter (R, Mich) not only didn’t get enough signatures on his nominating petitions to get himself on the ballot for his reelection, the petitions his team did turn in were rife with duplicates and outright fraud. Now he’s announced that he is not running for reelection because of all this.
McCotter, 46, has been in Congress for ten years and has been considered a rising conservative star. He even made an abortive attempt …

I’m headed to Vegas next month. Here’s why…
The event sponsored by Americans For Prosperity has already confirmed many of the speakers such as Michelle Malkin, Scott Rassmussen, Jonah Goldberg, Dana Loesch, and a host of others.
There is also another reason why you should go. Not only will you have the opportunity to hear some great speakers, but there will be all sorts of breakout sessions that will help you learn how to use the Internet to become a better conservative activist online.
Yet, that’s not all. You will also get a …
