I read this article by Ken Paulson, the President of the First Amendment Center and had to respond to almost everything he wrote.
Church, State and the First Amendment: What O’Donnell needs to know
Sometimes political debates generate light as well as heat.
Delaware Republican Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell’s question “Where in the Constitution is the separation of church and state?” in an exchange Oct. 19 over teaching creationism in public schools tells us something about her but also reminds us of how often America’s bedrock principles on government and religion are misunderstood.
Democratic …

The Left transforms Civil Rights, so that it’s no longer freedom FROM government, but total control BY government
17 Oct 2010
3:55 pm
Bookworm
Civil rights are much discussed lately, primarily because Progressives with bully-pulpits are furious that Glenn Beck held a rally at the Lincoln Memorial on the 47th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s famous civil rights rally at that same location. To hear them tell it, in the wake of the “Civil Rights Movement,” civil rights are entirely a black thing, and whites who parade around in the civil rights mantel are manifestly racists.
It says much about the Orwellian twists the Progressive mind takes that its spokespeople can, with a straight …

Ignorance of Dems Now Going Too Far
16 Oct 2010
3:11 pm
Heather Bachman
Ignorance. It is a factor of the liberal leadership and has been pretty much accepted by aspects of society such as the media. However, Massachusetts Representative Tierney has given another definition to the word as he consistently states he did not know anything regarding his own wife’s involvement in her brother’s illegal business.
Recently, Tierney’s wife plead guilty to crimes which connect her to a million dollar illegal offshore gambling business created and moderated by her now fugitive brother. 59-year old Patrice will be facing a January sentencing which is …

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
That would be the First Amendment. Remember it? That little thing the Founders gave us to ensure that our speech could not be stifled by the iron hamfist of overwhelming bureaucratic powergrabbage?
If you’re a bureaucrat in Florida, the answer is probably no. Behold:

Race Hustling Apparently Doesn’t Pay As Well As It Used To…

Some “Summer of recovery.” Al Sharpton is one of America’s most successful shakedown artists and even he can’t pay his bills.
An accounting firm hired by Al Sharpton’s National Action Network found the civil-rights group in such financial disarray that it flunked its record-keeping — and may not even survive, The Post has learned.
…The audit, which was submitted to NAN’s board of directors, warned, “These circumstances create substantial doubt about the organization’s ability to continue.”
KBL said it was “unable to form an opinion” on the accuracy of NAN’s financial figures …

Axelrod: The GOP Blocks Everything done To Help Recession
4 Sep 2010
4:58 pm
Heather Bachman
While the possibility of yet another stimulus package stood in the wings, Senior White House Advisor David Axelrod recently discussed his conservative opponents involvement in the attempt to revive the nation our of the current recession as attempts “to block” every effort to repair the issues. Obviously not able to make any examples, yet another statement from the White House has more holes than ever thought possible.
Aside from attempting to restrict the now $862 billion stimulus and its detrimental affects such as a 9.5 percent and rising unemployment rate, …

The NAACP Should Disband If This Is All They Have To Complain About
3 Sep 2010
3:12 pm
John Hawkins
It’s not a secret that the once great NAACP has become little more than a generally useless left-wing organization that works to gin up and amplify racial strife for fun, profit, and political rewards.
Unfortunately for the NAACP, America’s not a racist country any more, so it often has to REALLY stretch to find things to complain about. Here’s a great example of what I’m talking about,
Metro Police issued 92 traffic-related citations across the Las Vegas Valley on Monday as part of an annual effort to boost safety near schools. But …

Simple Questions: If Tea Parties Are Racist Because The People Attending Are Mostly White….
31 Aug 2010
11:24 am
John Hawkins
* Are newsrooms racist because they’re mostly white?
* Is Kos’ Netroots Nation racist because it’s mostly white?
* Are the Senate Democrats racist because their caucus is mostly white?
* If the crowd at an opera is mostly white, does that make it racist?
* How about a rap concert? Is Jay-Z a racist because most of the people showing up at his concerts are black?
* Some of the pro-immigration rallies that have been held have been attended overwhelmingly by Hispanics? Does that make them racist?
* If there are different answers here, are …

Homocon: WorldNetDaily Vs. Ann Coulter
19 Aug 2010
12:41 pm
John Hawkins
As you may have heard, Joseph Farah at WorldNetDaily has been bragging that he dumped Ann Coulter from a WorldNetDaily convention. This was supposedly over Ann Coulter speaking at Homocon — and of course, Right Wing News is also sponsoring the event.
Initially, I wasn’t going to comment on it at all because I knew it was an incredibly sleazy and hypocritical publicity stunt from one of the worst hucksters in the conservative movement. Keep in mind, this is the same guy whose website endlessly promoted the North American Union conspiracy …

Using our Rights against Our Own: The 9-11 Mosque and Religious Rights
19 Aug 2010
11:48 am
Heather Bachman
There is one consistent factor of our society which we are seeing more and more: Using our rights against ourselves in order to protect others. A great recent example is the 9-11 Mosque. Almost daily, people are debating the 9-11 Mosque and whether it should be placed two blocks where terrorists involved in the same religion took down the twin towers and changed the nation and the world forever. When the Mosque was first announced, it was a blip on the television. Aside from some conservative groups and tea …

Yeah, I stole the new name from Jim Treacher. But, hey, I wonder if Pelosi wants Harry Reid investigated? Wouldn’t that be a hoot?
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, called for an investigation of those who are protesting the building of the Ground Zero Mosque on Tuesday. She told San Francisco’s KCBS radio:

Project 21 vs. The NACCP
12 Aug 2010

John Hawkins
Have you heard of Project 21? If not, you should get acquainted with them because they’re conservative, effective, and in-your-face. For example, take a look at this press release from Project 21 that takes aim at the NAACP:
NAACP Asked to Fulfill Pledge to Repudiate Racial Slurs Against Black Conservative
Washington, D.C. – The NAACP is being called upon to make good on its pledge to repudiate slurs made against Project 21 Fellow Deneen Borelli simply because she is an outspoken black female conservative.
The pledge was made by NAACP Senior Vice President …

Keep Playing That Race Card, Joe Conason
12 Aug 2010
1:08 pm
John Hawkins
As Barack Obama’s popularity has continued to dip and the transparently self-serving cries of racism have reached a crescendo, complaints about bigotry in America have become ever more laughable. My personal fave of late is Jesse Jackson’s breathless claim that Cav’s owner Dan Gilbert was treating Lebron James like a “runaway slave.” However, lily white Joe Conason’s column today may be EVEN FUNNIER than Jesse Jackson’s hyperventilating over Lebron James. You ready for the title? It’s “Conservative racists return.” It could have used an exclamation point at the end, but …

FBI Investigates You: National Security Letter: No Warrant, No Probable Cause, And No Way For You To Talk About It
11 Aug 2010
1:32 pm
Melissa Clouthier
Here is the number that I find downright dismaying: Over 200,000 National Security Letters have been sent–all of them with gag orders. Read this from Wired and be alarmed:
A national security letter is an informal administrative letter the FBI can use to secretly demand customer records from ISPs, financial institutions, libraries, insurance companies, travel agencies, stockbrokers, car dealerships and others. NSLs have been used since the 1980s, but the Patriot Act, passed after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, and a subsequent revision in 2003 …

Redefining redefining marriage
8 Aug 2010
4:35 pm
Ron Coleman
Let’s get real simple here.
The crux of the issue is whether, if indeed marriage is a right under the Constitution, there is also a right to change the meaning of the word “marriage” from what it always meant to what we just plain want it to mean.
In other words, the “marriage” that is a “right” under the Constitution was marriage: Matrimony binding a man and woman in a unique way consistent with social norms regarding family life.
It is true that there was a time that it was against the law …

You’re Not Imagining It: America Is Less Free–This Time Property Rights
30 Jul 2010
10:23 pm
Melissa Clouthier
The cornerstone of liberty is the right to private property. It’s yours. The government doesn’t own it. It can’t take it. It’s yours. Since Kelo, though, private property has become passé..at least in some states. From the Eminent Domain Law Blog:
According to the 2010 Index of Economic Freedom published by The Heritage Foundation and The Wall Street Journal, 16 countries rank higher than the United States in protecting private property rights. From the report: “The United States’ economic freedom score is 78.0, making its economy the 8th freest …

Minute 16 Of Her 15 Minutes Of Fame: Shirley Sherrod To File Nuisance Lawsuit Against Andrew Breitbart
29 Jul 2010
1:05 pm
John Hawkins
Shirley Sherrod, who seems to spend most of her time accusing everyone who doesn’t agree with her of being racist, is going to try to sue Andrew Breitbart,
Ousted USDA employee Shirley Sherrod says she will sue conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart, the Associated Press reports. Sherrod made the announcement Thursday in San Diego at the National Association of Black Journalists annual convention.
What is Shirley Sherrod going to sue Breitbart for? Showing a clip of her speech where she admitted to engaging in a racist act? Give me a break. If you …

The Ultimate Irony: A Despicable Race Hustler Like Shirley Sherrod Is Being Hailed As A Racial Role Model
22 Jul 2010
1:05 pm
John Hawkins
It’s fascinating to see Shirley Sherrod being lionized as some sort of hero because after she racially discriminated against a white farmer, she had a change of heart. Would any conservative be treated as a hero for doing the same thing or would the Left sneer and refuse to believe that she changed her stripes?
Moreover, have people been listening to some of the other absolutely despicable, indefensible comments coming out her loud mouth?
Here’s a much less remarked upon excerpt from her speech that Breitbart made famous,
I haven’t seen such mean …

Don’t Shed Any Tears For Shirley Sherrod
21 Jul 2010
7:10 am
John Hawkins
For those of you unfamiliar with the story, let’s take it from the beginning. The NAACP decided to smear the Tea Party as racists. Like many Americans, Andrew Breitbart didn’t take kindly to something that has become a daily ritual during the Obama Administration — conservatives being falsely denounced as racists. However, unlike most other people who are sick and tired of being lied about by the Left, Andrew Breitbart had the information he needed to fight back. So, he put out this video of Shirley Sherrod admitting that she …

Who’s Afraid of Jesse Jackson?
13 Jul 2010
12:13 pm
John Hawkins
One of the fascinating things about Jesse Jackson is that there’s a complete mismatch between the level of holy terror he generates in politicians & corporations and the actual amount of real world influence he has.
The myth of Jesse Jackson says he’s a black American leader and if he’s not happy, tens of millions of black Americans aren’t happy either. The reality is that even a large majority of black Americans seem to view him as a camera hogging hustler whose first priority is his own wallet.
If you want …
