Thanks For The Bailout, Suckers! GM Builds A New Plant In China
9 May 2013

John Hawkins
As a general rule, corporations should be able to build plants where they want, whether it’s in America or elsewhere. Moreover, if they choose to go overseas, we should be asking, “Why is that?” Are our corporate taxes too high? Do we have too many regulations? Is there something else that we can do as a nation to be more business-friendly, to keep building plants here in America, so that we can employ more people and rake in more taxes?
However, it’s a little different with a company like General …

Chinese Bloggers Get Wasteful Gov’t Official Fired
2 May 2013
2:31 pm
Warner Todd Huston
Citizen journalists in China have succeeded in getting a wasteful government official fired by reporting on a lavish party he threw paid for by government funds.
The Communist Party boss of Taizhou City, Zhang Aihua, had developed a habit of extravagant parties, high spending, and glad-handing industrial representatives, so much so that local residents had become angry at the excess.
At length, Jia Hongwei, a web forum administrator in Taizhou, joined other local citizens in outrage at Aihua’s latest blowout party. Hongwei brought his video camera and took images of the expensive …

Why Is This Being Built In China And Not The United States?
21 Nov 2012

John Hawkins
Remember when the United States was the country building world renowned landmarks like the Hoover Dam (1936), the Empire State Building (1931), the Golden Gate Bridge (1937), the Chrysler Building (1930) and the Willis Tower AKA Sears Tower (1973)?
Notice the dates.
We sure don’t seem to be building ‘em like we used to, do we?
Now, read this story and ask yourself a simple question: Why isn’t this happening here instead of in China?
According to its engineers, this will be the tallest skyscraper in the world by the end of …

Before we get to the money quote, which happens to be the 2nd to last paragraph of this Politico story, we learn, via a Pew Global Attitudes Survey, that people around the world have cooled on Obama’s foreign policy
Global opinion of President Barack Obama has declined dramatically since 2009, according to a new survey of the president and his policies in 21 countries.
Approval of Obama’s international policies has dropped from 78 percent to 63 percent in Europe; from 34 percent to 15 percent in Muslim countries; from 40 percent to …

US Administration Renews Push to Ratify Law of Sea Treaty
12 May 2012

Michael Fell
The Obama administration has initiated a renewed push to convince the U.S. Senate to approve the 1982 United Nations Law of the Sea treaty. Administration officials claim approval of the pact is necessary to protect the U.S. Navy’s right to carry out exercises off the coast of China. In the past Chinese ships have harassed U.S. vessels.
The administration’s push to approve the treaty comes at a time of increased focus by the Pentagon on China’s military buildup and the expansion of its influence in the Asia-Pacific region. The Pentagon is …

Wintery Knight
Life Site News writes about a pro-life activist in communist China who asked for help from the American government and was betrayed by them.
Excerpt:
Chinese dissident Chen Guangcheng, who has suffered years of imprisonment and beatings for objecting to forced abortions and sterilizations in his native country, thought he could find shelter and friendship in the United States embassy following his recent escape from house arrest. He is now learning the hard way that the pro-abortion Obama administration, which helps to finance the same “one-child policy” that Chen is fighting, would rather see …

Will Media Apologize for Airing Anti-Apple Computer Activist’s False Claims?
22 Mar 2012

Warner Todd Huston
When it broke, the Old Media was all over Mike Daisey’s story of the horrid working conditions at Apple Computer’s foreign manufacturing plants. The story had oppressed workers, pathos, and best of all, eeevil corporate greed. Daisey was well on the road to making Apple the liberal’s newest bete noire and was being hailed as the next Upton Sinclair. Until, that is, it became clear that he made it all up.
One of the first major media outlets to push Daisey’s anti-Apple claims was the program This American Life aired on …

Here are a few of the latest companies to join the growing list of “green” “sustainable energy” failures that have been supported by the current Administration’s deficit “stimulus” spending. All this financing has been done using your tax dollars…well, actually tax dollars to be paid in the future by your grandchildren and great grandchildren to China. Plus interest:
Evergreen Energy-Which has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, saying it’s “impossible to maintain operations” due to funding shortfalls. This announcement comes after the company received $5.3 million in “stimulus” funds.

The Chinese discover the attractions of getting rich:
When building projects grew scarce in the United States a few years ago, the California architect Robert Steinberg opened an office in Shanghai. He says he didn’t understand the city until the night he dined with some prospective clients. “I was trying to make polite conversation and started discussing some political controversy that seemed important at the time,” he recalls. “One of the businessmen leaned over and said, ‘We’re from Shanghai. We care only about money. You want to talk politics, go to …

What Liberals in America Can Really Learn From China
3 Dec 2011
2:15 am
John Hawkins
Far left-wing union flack Andy Stern thinks he’s seen the future in China and naturally, since he’s a liberal, it has inspired him to want to readopt all the failed liberal policies that are dragging us down in this country.
The conservative-preferred, free-market fundamentalist, shareholder-only model — so successful in the 20th century — is being thrown onto the trash heap of history in the 21st century. In an era when countries need to become economic teams, Team USA’s results — a jobless decade, 30 years of flat median wages, a …

Perhaps the most charming charm Great Satan has exhibited (aside from angling her body diplopolitaire’ to create other angles) is the killer cool heap of trashed out despots, dicts and autocrats she’s tossed on the junk heap since the new millennium broke unto us.
The guy with one eye (hot rumours whisper he’s a moped enthusiast) Mullah Omar, that S’Ddam cat, President General for Life Pervez, and now Colonel Khadaffy. Not counting cats in Pyramidland or the Tunisian Squeeze.
Let’s just cut right to it, shall we?

Joe Biden OK With Murdering Chinese Babies
24 Aug 2011
12:45 pm
Warner Todd Huston
We are faced with a difficult dilemma concerning Vice President Joe Biden’s outrageous comments about China’s one-child policy delivered in China this week.
On one hand we must either believe Joe Biden is a compete idiot, or on the other understand that he is OK with the fact that Chinese officials forced women to late term abortions and in many cases actually murdered already born babies to satisfy the one child per couple rule that the communist oppressors put into place years ago to curb the country’s population size.
Neither prospect …
