California Cannot Afford to House Prisoners, Yet Continues to Spend Wastefully
16 Apr 2013

Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown is in hot water because California does not have the money to house all the criminals that liberal policies have drawn to the erstwhile golden state:
Escalating a dispute with the courts over California’s troubled prison system, Gov. Jerry Brown on Friday fired back at federal judges who threatened to hold him in contempt, vowing to “litigate until the Supreme Court tells us that we’re not on the right track.”
The governor, the target of a scathing ruling Thursday that gave him three weeks to file a plan …

The CA Bill That Would Shut Down Every Small Restaurant
13 Apr 2013
5:44 pm
Warner Todd Huston
The State of California has one of the worst proposals of any legislature in the country this year with a new bill that would force every restaurant and food service business in the state to commission an expensive “risk assessment” test for every menu item, a test that could cost thousands of dollars for every food item sold. This outrageous and cost prohibitive testing would certainly cause all but the biggest chain restaurants to go out of business almost instantly.
In another exercise in nanny-statism, California’s State Senate Democrats want this …

Welcome to the Hotel Mexifornia

On Wednesday, April 3, 2013, a group of women enjoying a “girl’s day out” noticed something amiss in Beverly Hills California. They noticed that the Beverly Hills Hotel was flying the Mexican flag next to the American flag.
They proceeded to enter the hotel and ask why a hotel located in Beverly Hills, CA was flying the flag of a foreign nation alongside Old Glory.
Brandon (who did not give his last name) the front desk manager working in the hotel told them it had been raised to honor the heritage of Mexican farms that …

VIDEO: Sen. Dianne Feinstein Lies in Senate Gun-Ban Hearing

-By Warner Todd Huston
Senator Dianne Feinstein (D, CA) lied outright in a recent hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee as she advocated for her anti-Constitutional gun-ban bill when she said that it is “legal to hunt humans” with large capacity ammunition magazines.
This is why Feinstein and all like her are clowns…
These anti-American, anti-Constitutionalists are little else but ignorant fear merchants.

California Dems Show That What They Really Want To Do Is Grab Guns
9 Feb 2013

Along with making sure that it is really, really difficult for law abiding citizens to have the means to protect themselves and their families with any sort of gun (via The Blaze and Weasel Zippers)
(Mercury News) All semi-automatic rifles with detachable magazines would be banned, all guns would be registered and no ammunition could be bought without a special permit in California under a sweeping list of bills rolled out Thursday by state Senate Democrats.
The 10-bill package constitutes the single largest gun control push in decades in the Golden State, …

Hawaii Five-O’s Anti-Gun Tirade
6 Feb 2013

On the Monday’s broadcast of the long awaited remake of a popular 1970s era episode of Hawaii Five-O, one of the main characters went on a rant against “gun nuts” and the lack of both strict regulations and a pervasive, privacy-invading registration process. But later in the show the same character was apologetic over not having a warrant to review records of owners of post office boxes because it is an invasion of their right to privacy.
The episode, titled “Hookman,” is a remake of the 1973 fan favorite from the …

Democrats In Brokeifornia Offer Legislation Requiring Insurance For Gun Owners To Protect The Taxpayer

Seriously. California is one of the brokest big governmental entities in the world, spending taxpayer money taken at the barrel of a jail cell willy nilly, yet…
(The Blaze) Democratic lawmakers proposed legislation Tuesday that would require California gun owners to buy liability insurance to cover damages or injuries caused by their weapons.
Similar bills have been introduced in other states following the Newtown, Conn., school massacre. They include Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and New York.
“I was moved, like many others, being the father of two young children, by the Sandy Hook …

Brokeifornia’s First Cap And Trade Auction Complete Failure
23 Nov 2012

Surprise! Well, not really, considering who cap and tax, er, trade programs have worked in countries around the world, with the costs of carbon essentially equating to junk bond status
(Sacramento Bee) State environmental leaders this week hailed California’s first auction of carbon emissions credits a huge success.
But budget writers are hardly thrilled.
A low price for credits and minimal demand for future offsets suggest California will see a mere fraction of the $1 billion that Gov. Jerry Brown and lawmakers estimated the state would receive this fiscal year.
The nation’s brokeyest broke …

Only In San Francisco Can Banning Public Nudity Just Barely Pass
21 Nov 2012

William Teach
In most areas of the country, banning public nudity would be a slam dunk. Sure, most guys appreciate some nudity, but, um, generally in SF what you see aren’t pretty women heading off nude, but, old hairy men showing their dangly bits
(Politico) San Francisco lawmakers disappointed committed nudists Tuesday by narrowly approving a ban on public nakedness despite concerns the measure would undermine the city’s reputation as a sanctuary for free expression.
The Board of Supervisors voted 6-5 in favor of a public safety ordinance that prohibits exposed genitals in most …

People’s Republik Of California Now #1 In Poverty
16 Nov 2012

The brokeyest broke state in the nation (which means it is also one of the brokeyest broke entities in the world, as it has the world’s 8th largest economy) has long served as the place where the far left has conducted field experiments for their policies. How’s that working out? Neil Munro tells us
(Daily Caller) The Golden State has fallen on hard times, with a poverty rate that is now twice as bad as West Virginia’s and substantially worse than the rates of poverty in Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas and Texas.

Calif. Dem Chair Says Romney/Ryan Like Nazi Joseph Goebbels
3 Sep 2012
2:10 pm
Warner Todd Huston
California Democrat Party Chairman John Burton is setting the Democrat National Convention off on the sort of demagogic footing that has characterized the Democrat’s campaign this year by accusing Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan of being like Nazis, specifically Nazi official Joseph Goebbels.
At a California delegation breakfast today, Chairman Burton went on one of his epic, rambling, half-informed rants about Romney Ryan when he uttered the Goodwin’s Law violation.
Burton is reported as saying:
“They lie and they don’t care if people think they lie… Joseph Goebbels – it’s the big lie, …

Antonio Villaraigosa: America’s First Latino President?

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is a long-time supporter of the current occupier in chief. Over the course of the past year Villaraigosa has done no less than 20 official or campaign events on the White House’s behalf. He will be in the national spotlight when he gavels the opening of the 2012 Democratic National Convention in September.
Questions are already being raised about whether Villaraigosa, mayor of the country’s second largest city and part of the rapidly growing Hispanic population, has presidential aspirations.
“The answer is no. The job I’ve said …

World’s Most Predictable Headline: “Buyers’ Remorse For California’s ‘Bullet Train To Nowhere’”
5 Jun 2012
5:01 am
John Hawkins
Who would have ever suspected that a state headed rapidly towards bankruptcy would ever come to regret spending billions on a marginally useful bullet train that’s practically guaranteed to be a money losing disappointment?
Ambitious plans for a fast track linking Los Angeles and San Francisco at speeds of up to 220mph in just over two-and-a-half hours were slimly approved by 53 per cent in a statewide ballot in 2008. That allowed the state to raise $10 billion from bonds and secured an injection of $3.5 billion in stimulus money …
