SCOTUS Overturns DOMA; Kills Ballot Initiatives in Attempt To Punt on Same-Sex Marriage
  26 Jun 2013     5:23 pm      Lennie Jarratt

In 2 landmark rulings today from the Supreme Court.
Ruling 1: Section 3 of DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) was ruled unconstitutional, i.e. any legal marriage from a state must be treated equally under Federal Law. This gives legal same-sex marriages the ability to file joint federal tax returns. It also allows benefits given to other married couples in these states.
The vote was 5-4 with Justice Kennedy being the swing vote on this ruling. This ruling affirms the state self governing rules and that how Federal Law cannot overrule this in …

Ooops! Yahoo News Posts Article Calling Kenya The Land of Obama’s Birth
25 Jun 2013     2:28 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Yahoo! News raised the ire of liberals with a June 21 article that seems to have accidentally stated that Kenya was the “the country of Obama’s birth.”
The article was quickly changed, of course, but not before people noticed and not before Twitter became filled with outrage.
The piece, written by Rachel Rose Hartman, was headlined “White House doesn’t have ‘figure on costs’ of Africa trip,” and noted in the first paragraph that Obama was visiting Africa. “But he won’t be stopping in the country of his birth,” the paragraph ended.

How Much BS Do They Expect Us To Buy?
  6 Jun 2013     12:01 am      Robert Cleveland

It seems that every Democrat politician in America operates under the assumption that our nation is populated entirely by idiots who will believe anything we are told.  The only difference is, some Americans require the story to be repeated a few more times than others…but as a whole, Americans will buy into anything, true or false, as long as it is told to us enough times.

When the news came out about the Fast and Furious scandal, we were told, over and over again, that it was solely the work of …

The “progressive” Agenda for America
  22 May 2013     4:18 pm      Michael Fell

Despite voluminous amounts of saccharine coated “progressive” rhetoric to the contrary, today’s “progressives” do not care about “the little guy”, women, children, or minorities of any shape, color, creed, form or substance.
Their method is to surreptitiously use cultural Marxism, critical theory and political correctness in combination with gradual inevitability to create divided, hyphenated special interest victim groups. Once those groups have been created, the next step is to inflame those groups with hate-filled red herring and straw-man hyperbole in hopes that the under-educated, under-informed and/or fully indoctrinated members of those …

“progressives” in American Politics
  8 May 2013     12:07 pm      Michael Fell

While “progressives” have existed in both major American political Parties for over a century, in recent years “progressives” have consumed the Democratic Party’s structural hierarchy while simultaneously increasingly insinuating themselves into the ranks of Republican Party leadership. This has led to a blurring in the minds of the American voter of the distinction between the two. Combine that blurred distinction with the growing reality that members of both Parties are increasingly interested in keeping their own powerful positions, replete with benefits comparable to royalty, and it becomes dangerously less possible …

“progressives” in The Media
  6 May 2013     4:53 pm      Michael Fell

The American mainstream media has long been sympathetic to the “progressive” cause. For decades they have made subliminal editorial decisions regarding their reportage in favor of “progressive” concepts and candidates. They, along with teachers, professors, Hollywood producers, screenplay writers and actors have slowly, carefully but consistently nudged American thought farther to the left.
Case in point: Edward R. Murrow, who was a member of the John F. Kennedy administration and later awarded the Medal of Freedom by Lyndon B. Johnson. Murrow is best remembered for TV news reports that led to …

“progressive” Origins
  4 May 2013     10:36 pm      Michael Fell

The “progressive” movement in America first appeared during the late 19th century in response to so called “robber barons” such as Andrew Carnegie, John D. Rockefeller, and J.P. Morgan. The “progressives” saw what to them was unbridled capitalism being practiced by these men and deemed it to be injurious to the well-being of the masses. Early “progressives” included Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Teddy Roosevelt and Howard Taft were Republicans. Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt were Democrats.
The American “progressive” movement leaned heavily upon and was …

The “progressive”
  3 May 2013     7:02 pm      Michael Fell

The “progressive” does not care about Americans.
They do not care about the dim bulb, buck toothed flyover American’s life. They do not care about the Liberties of slope headed inferiors who bitterly cling to their Bibles and guns. Nor are “progressives” concerned with how Neanderthal hayseeds define the pursuit of happiness.
What “progressives” care about is ruling over the people who populate a country called the United States of America.
Note: ruling over, not governing.
The underlying, unflinching, insistent “progressive” belief is that Americans unknowingly adhere to a fatally flawed, unjust, reprehensible system …

A hapless journey’s end
  30 Apr 2013     3:00 pm      Josh Bernstein

What happened in Boston last week was truly a tragedy. Two Muslim brothers detonated two bombs at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Unless you have been living in a cave or under a rock somewhere you already know what happened. The sad fact is the Obama Administration, The FBI, and the entire Intelligence Community failed to protect the American people. Three people died and over 175 were injured by two brothers practicing their religion of peace.
Throughout history people of all different faiths have killed each other in the …

A fractured party is a losing party
  19 Apr 2013     12:49 pm      Josh Bernstein

Why is it that when Democrats govern like Socialist dictators they win, but when Republicans govern like Democrats they lose? The sad part is that both parties govern in such a similar capacity that it is hard to tell them apart these days. Both parties have an insatiable appetite for spending; and fiscal discipline in Washington is as rare as a snowstorm in Phoenix.
Neither party has shown the ability to govern the American people the way our Constitution originally intended. One could argue that we technically have not had a …

Welcome to the Hotel Mexifornia
  4 Apr 2013     8:06 pm      Michael Fell

On Wednesday, April 3, 2013, a group of women enjoying a “girl’s day out” noticed something amiss in Beverly Hills California.  They noticed that the Beverly Hills Hotel was flying the Mexican flag next to the American flag.
They proceeded to enter the hotel and ask why a hotel located in Beverly Hills, CA was flying the flag of a foreign nation alongside Old Glory.
Brandon (who did not give his last name) the front desk manager working in the hotel told them it had been raised to honor the heritage of Mexican farms that …

OBAMA’S DHS: DRONES, HOLLOW POINTS, AND SECRECY
  2 Apr 2013     2:48 pm      Josh Bernstein

What has our Department of Homeland Security metamorphosed into? Our third largest government agency has been stockpiling weapons and ammunition at a very alarming rate. Since early 2012, DHS and its 200,000 employees have purchased so much ammunition that many of the top weapon and bullet manufacturers have had trouble keeping up with the increased demand.
So why is our government buying hundreds of thousands of tactical weapons and millions upon millions of bullets? Do they think that the Russians are going to invade us? Do they think the North Koreans …

It Can Happen Here
  18 Mar 2013     4:15 pm      Michael Fell

For years now, the Euro zone has been experiencing difficulty absorbing the costs of bailing out relatively small countries with relatively small economies that have relatively small amounts of debt.
Most recently, Euro zone leaders agreed to fund a bailout of Cyprus with a deal that includes taxing private bank deposits.  The deal to fund 10 billion euros worth of rescue loans for Cyprus imposes a 6.75 to 9.9 percent tax on those with cash in Cyprus banks.  Without the EU bailout Cyprus cannot avoid default, but the unexpected and unprecedented …

Lady Liberty
  16 Mar 2013     3:31 pm      Michael Fell

Lady Liberty stands in New York Harbor proclaiming: Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.
Lady Liberty: A beacon of freedom the entire world sees.  A symbol of a better way of life anchored in liberty, opportunity and equal protection under the law.
Inspiring yes, but that is not the entire story.
Lady Liberty also stands as a reminder to America that the the American way of life is why people have come to this country for centuries.
What the world is currently witnessing is the collapse of …

Stand with Rand
  7 Mar 2013     3:48 pm      Michael Fell

Some of Senator Rand Paul’s (R, KY) colleagues were left unimpressed by Wednesday’s filibuster.  The day following Paul’s action, Senators John McCain (R, AZ) and Lindsey Graham (R, SC) criticized him, saying Paul was doing a “disservice” to the debate about drones.
When was the last time either McCain or Graham raised concerns over the White House’s use of drones?
“I don’t think what happened yesterday was helpful to the American people…What we saw yesterday is going to give ammunition to those who say the rules of the Senate are being abused,” …

Let’s Keep It Real
  6 Mar 2013     12:01 am      Robert Cleveland

New projections by the Congressional Budget Office show that this could be a record year for federal tax revenue – according to the CBO, the federal government should be bringing in $2.7 TRILLION this year, an all-time record.  At first blush, one would think this is good news, and a vindication of President Obama’s “balanced approach.”  But even though we’re looking at the possibility of record-high tax revenues, deficits are projected to be around $850 billion.
So the big question is, does America have a spending problem?  Will President Obama’s “balanced …

John Kerry Begins His New Job By Doing What He Does Best- Bashing Americans
  27 Feb 2013     8:00 am      Greg Campbell

I am an American. I am proud to be an American. That used to mean something.
I am proud to be an American not because it’s the thing you say; I’m proud because we have a lo history of being, dare-I-say-it, the greatness nation on Earth.
Yet, I realize America is not perfect- otherwise, why would I be doing what I do? I am not naive; I know American history has its share of controversy and, without condoning past mistakes, I accept them as history and am still, nonetheless, damn proud to …

“Progressives” and the Death of Mainstreet USA
  18 Feb 2013     6:18 am      Greg Campbell

The day after President Obama gave his State of the Union address, I drove through my hometown of Roseburg, Oregon. An old mill-town that once hummed with the sounds of log trucks coming and going, Roseburg is now dying. While it still deals with the overly-harsh environmental regulations on timber put forth during the Clinton Administration, it tries to make do by attracting new businesses with limited success.
A staple in the community is Pete’s Drive-In, a Roseburg institution that still proudly serves homemade fries, made from scratch each day. Just …

My Amazing, Earth-Shattering, Dynamic, Never-Before-Seen Analysis Of The State Of The Union
  13 Feb 2013     12:01 am      Robert Cleveland

OK, I confess: I didn’t actually watch the speech.
I tried, I really did.
Well, okay, I didn’t even really try.
I did manage to muddle through the first few minutes of the speech as I waited for my wife to get ready to go out to dinner – which basically amounted to waiting until President Obama said something that made me want to utter several choice words that I try not to vocalize, since I don’t really want my 2-year-old adding them to her vocabulary.  As more time goes on, I seem …
