The Enquirer: Michelle Is Angry At Barack For Going On A Date With Oprah

Although I’ve been working the tabloid beat on and off for years, I’ve gotten away from it a bit over the last few months. Still, sometimes there’s a story that’s just so compelling, it just drags you back in. This story, on the front of the Enquirer, is a great example of what I mean…

In all fairness to Michelle, what woman wouldn’t be upset if her husband had a date with Oprah? I mean, the dating thing is bad enough — but with Oprah? When I bought the Enquirer and handed it to the clerk at the grocery store — with shame in my eyes — she also made a salient point, “Oh, I thought Oprah was gay.” Right? Haven’t we heard all those rumors about Oprah> Yet now she’s dating the President! And think how it must be impacting poor Michelle! She spends all those hours in the gym, getting those buff arms, and her hubby falls for Oprah of all people? It’s just scandalous!

So what’s the scoop? Here’s what the print edition of Enquirer has to say,

“Political insiders say Michelle, 46, is seething with rage that her 49-year old hubby would dare to ignore her standing command to stop seeing the billionaire TV talk host, who the First Lady sees as her arch-rival for his attention.

Michelle was so furious she splurged by spending a whopping $500,000 on her vacation in Spain — even though it makes her hubby look like he doesn’t care about the millions of Americans who are suffering in these bleak economic times.

…But, when Michelle learned that Oprah was one of the guests at his birthday dinner in Chicago, she blew a gasket, say insiders. “His relationship with Oprah has been a sore spot with Michelle for years, and when he invited her to his birthday party, it was like he was rubbing Michelle’s nose in it,” says a source.

…Demanding Michelle has been complaining more and more that her husband ignores her and spends more time with his aides than consulting with her, says sources.

And, she’s become super-jealous of Oprah who gave Obama’s campaign a huge boost, and continues to demand that he snub her, sources add.

Is this juicy material? Absolutely. Does it sound plausible? It certainly does. Does it live up to the billing of an Oprah/Obama date? Not at all. An invitation to a birthday party does not a date make — and thank goodness. That may spare us the all-too-common these days Hollywood celeb sex tape, featuring Oprah and Obama.
