Boehner Says Obama’s Bergdahl Swap Will Cost Lives

Obama claimed to have made the decision to swap five high-risk terrorists for one American deserter because “we never leave an American behind”. But he didn’t think much of the lives of Americans that would be put at risk by his decision, as a new video by John Boehner points out.

Today, House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio) released a video clip of him affirming that Obama’s decision to negotiate with the Taliban to free Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl could very well put American lives at risk.

Speaker Boehner also doubled down saying Obama’s decision violated a long-standing U.S. policy to never negotiate with terrorists.

“We have violated that policy and as result, we’ve made Americans less safe here and all around the world,” Boehner said. “There is not any doubt in my mind that there are going to be costs, lost lives associated with what came out of this.”

There are reasons that we don’t — or didn’t — negotiate with terrorists. Doing so only emboldens them, and swapping such dangerous men for one deserter just endangers all of the service members who continue to serve their country with honor and integrity.
