Gang Of 8 Immigration Bill Will Supposedly Be Revenue Neutral
23 May 2013
8:35 am
These people think you’re stupid
(The Hill) Members of the Gang of Eight say their immigration reform bill will not add a dime to the nation’s deficit.
That anticipated Congressional Budget Office (CBO) score will defy conservative policy experts who recently claimed the measure would cost trillions of dollars.
The bill’s authors expect the CBO to release an estimate in early June showing it will be deficit neutral.
“If CBO comes back and says it doesn’t, then we’ll likely address the fees, the fines accordingly,” said Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), a member of the …

Milbank: “Government Makes Criminals Of Reporters”
22 May 2013
9:10 am
It’s nice to see reporters and professional opinion writers employed by media outlets finally understanding the lawlessness of this administration. It’s a shame that it took a flagrant abuse of the 1st Amendment to some of their own, “which it seems is the only way these days to get the jaded, Obama loving media off their f***ing arses and back to doing actual reporting”. Here’s the Washington Post’s Dana Milbank
There are various reasons you might not care about the Obama administration’s spying on journalist James Rosen and labeling him a …

IRS Scandal: Stage Managed To Leave President Obama In The Dark
22 May 2013
8:38 am
Those who’ve read my blog posts know that I always refer to him as Obama or (NMP) Obama (not my president). When I refer to Obama as President Obama I do it to make a point. Case in point, per this McClatchy article at the Raleigh News and Observer
With Obama in the dark, administration planned how to stage-manage news of IRS scandal
Weeks before the world – and apparently President Barack Obama himself – heard about the details of the Internal Revenue Service scandal, top people in his administration started planning …

NY Times Publishes Op-Ed Supporting The Justice Dept. Going After Reporters
21 May 2013
9:28 am
Most in the press are taking a position similar to Brit Hume’s
(Mediaite) “That places this administration in the position of saying normal news gathering activities are criminal. That is chilling.”
Juan Williams, who likes to tick off both sides, said something earlier on Fox News about 20 minutes ago. Others are saying similar things. Former Obama press secretary Robert Gibbs says Team Obama needs to explain this (they won’t. Expect them to engage in their typical behavior, circling the wagons, obfuscation, denial, deflection, and casting blame. Oh, and their newest one …

Despicable Liberals Use Bodies Of Dead Children To Push “Climate Change”
21 May 2013
8:48 am
It’s like clockwork: there’s some event, be it a holiday or breaking news, and Liberals use it to push one of their unhinged belief sets. If it’s bad weather they push “climate change”. Here’s disgusting and abhorent Senator Sheldon Whitehouse
(Daily Caller) “So, you may have a question for me,” Whitehouse said. “Why do you care? Why do you, Sheldon Whitehouse, Democrat of Rhode Island, care if we Republicans run off the climate cliff like a bunch of proverbial lemmings and disgrace ourselves? I’ll tell you why. We’re stuck in this …

Warmists Links Angelina Jolie’s Double Mastectomy To GOP Coming Around On “Climate Change”
20 May 2013
7:28 am
I’d love to say this is parody, but, alas, no, this is how wackadoodle the New Climate Deniers are (via Junk Science).
Will Angelina Jolie Help End Climate-Change Denial, And Help The Republican Party?
File this one under unintended consequences. Angelina Jolie, by announcing her preventative double masectomy, will likely have significant influence well beyond women’s health. By modeling how to think with data when data do not tell us what we would otherwise want them to say, she displayed a level of decision-making courage that business and political leaders should strive …

Obama’s Two Americas
20 May 2013
7:09 am
An interesting juxtaposition from The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza
Can Obama bridge the divide between the two Americas?
John Edwards was right. There are two Americas.
In one America, the events of the past 10 days have exposed the true colors of President Obama and his administration. From edited talking points about the Sept. 11, 2012, terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, to the secret seizure of phone records of Associated Press reporters to the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups, a single message has emerged: This is the inevitable result of government run amok.

Who Knew “Smart Power” Applied To Obama’s Domestic Policy, As Well
19 May 2013
8:22 am
We jump in the wayback machine, and learn that “smart power” was the Obama/Hillary Clinton term for how America was going to deal with the world. It is defined by the Center for Strategic and International Studies as “an approach that underscores the necessity of a strong military, but also invests heavily in alliances, partnerships, and institutions of all levels to expand American influence and establish legitimacy of American action.” In other words, a bunch of gobbledygook, substituting a cute phrase for actual productive action. Sure, he’s had a few …

Colorado Sheriffs File Federal Lawsuit Over Gun Laws
18 May 2013
8:34 am
Nice to know that some in law enforcement will not bow to the pressure and will support the 2nd Amendment Rights of law abiding citizens.
(Fox News) Colorado sheriffs upset with gun restrictions adopted in the aftermath of last year’s mass shootings filed a federal lawsuit Friday, challenging the regulations as unconstitutional.
The lawsuit involves sheriffs from 54 of Colorado’s 64 counties, most representing rural, gun-friendly areas of the state.
The sheriffs say the new state laws violate Second Amendment protections that guarantee the right to keep and bear arms. Opponents are criticizing …

Saturday Obama Scandals
18 May 2013
8:19 am
I highly doubt whether anyone will obtain information linking Obama to either the IRS or phone records scandal. Say what you will about his “governance” style, but the man is able to keep his hands clean. Surely no emails, phone records, or paper records will link him, nor will anyone say “yup, Obama (or one of his advisors) ordered this”. What Obama does is create an atmosphere as the Executive Branch head of underlings doing what they want and thinking that it is A-OK to do things like target political …

Does Anyone In This Administration Know Anything?
17 May 2013
11:14 am
Obama knows nothing.
Jay Carney knows nothing.
Eric Holder knows nothing.
Hillary Clinton knew nothing.
Susan Rice only knew what she was told.
Acting IRS head Steven Miller Knows nothing.
In most cases, if this were a private sector corporation, all those people would be “promoted to customer”. Terminated for incompetence. Summarily dismissed. But, this is government, where failing to answer questions is the norm, where not having the information (or pretending to not have it) is the norm.
There are no adults in charge. There doesn’t seem to be anyone in charge.

Obamacare To Cost $1.8 Trillion Over First 10 Years
17 May 2013
8:27 am
Fortunately, the IRS will be the enforcement agency for Obamacare, wanting tons and tons of your personal and private information, and the person in charge of the IRS department which targeted the TEA Party is running the IRS health care office, so, hey, what else could go wrong?
(Washington Examiner) When President Obama was selling his health care legislation to Congress, he declared that “the plan I’m proposing will cost around $900 billion over 10 years.” But with the law’s major provisions set to kick in next year, a new analysis …

Liberals Desperately Wishing For The Scandals To Fall Apart
17 May 2013
8:05 am
And providing cover for malfeasance. It starts with the Washington Post’s Ezra Klein, and Obama sycophant disguised as a member of the press, who at least acknowledges that these are scandals.
Things go wrong in government. Sometimes it’s just bad luck. Sometimes it’s rank incompetence. Sometimes it’s criminal wrongdoing. Most of the time you never hear about it. Or, if you do hear about it, the media eventually gets bored talking about it (see warming, global).
But every so often an instance of government wrongdoing sprouts wings and becomes something quite exciting: …

Study Suggests That Wimpier Men Hold Liberal Views
16 May 2013
7:46 am
In evolutionary terms, liberal men are acting like women who need protection, both physically and psychologically (hey, don’t start the misogynist yammering, that’s the way it was for the human species, in general terms, for much of our pre-history)
Men who are physically strong are more likely to have right wing political views
Men who are physically strong are more likely to take a right wing political stance, while weaker men are inclined to support the welfare state, according to a new study.
Researchers discovered political motivations may have evolutionary links to physical …

Obama Tries To Stop The Bleeding
16 May 2013
7:19 am
If our supposedly fair and independent press would have done their jobs over the past 4+ years there would have been quite a bit more bleeding from Mr. Chicago Way
(Politico) In recent days, Democratic strategists have all but begged President Barack Obama to take control of a deepening public relations disaster that threatens to derail his second-term agenda.
On Wednesday evening, Obama did just that. The White House released 100 pages of emails and documents showing the evolution of the administration’s talking points about the Benghazi attack. Just over an hour …

Politico: Obama’s Narrative Goes Down Dark Alley
15 May 2013
7:54 am
Over at Ace Of Spades, DrewM provided a handy dandy Obama scandal scorecard, for which I opined in the comments that of all the scandals, the most dangerous for Obama is the Associated Press phone records one. There are certainly ones which are worse overall, but, if the AP turns on Obama, or at least decides that they are no longer going to be his lapdogs and will report the news and investigate the Obama admin, this could turn very bad for Obama. And we could see other media outlets …

NY Times: If You Think The 2nd Amendment Is There To Protect You From Government, You’re Un-American
14 May 2013
7:54 am
Here’s Stanley Fish, writing an op-ed for the far left NY Times:
Is the N.R.A. Un-American?
The more militant members of the N.R.A. and most of its leaders may be un-American.
By “militant” I don’t mean those who wish to protect recreational shooting and hunting; nor do I mean those who, like Justice Antonin Scalia, believe that there is a constitutional right to defend one’s home and family with firearms. These are respectable positions (although I am deeply unpersuaded by the second). I mean those who read the Second Amendment as proclaiming …

DOJ Seizes AP Phone Records, POTUS Knows Nothing
14 May 2013
7:21 am
One thing that seems to be missing is the timeline for when the records were seized and when the warrant was provided to the Associated Press. This appears to be a case of delayed notification, what the Left called “sneak and peek” back when Bush was POTUS, if a warrant was even provided. No article mentions the word “warrant”
(AP) The Justice Department secretly obtained two months of telephone records of reporters and editors for The Associated Press in what the news cooperative’s top executive called a “massive and unprecedented intrusion” …

New Yorker: Replace Everything That Emits CO2 With Something Else
13 May 2013
7:38 am
That’s a fantastic freaking idea! Of course, it won’t stop “climate change”, partly because anthropogenic global warming, if we use the correct scientific term, rather than the political term, is a mostly fake issue, and partly Warmists do not even believe in their own rhetoric enough to practice what they preach (via Tom Nelson)
Terrible News About Carbon and Climate Change

This past Thursday, the daily average atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide, as measured by …

MSNBC: Just Give Poor People Money To End Poverty
13 May 2013
6:54 am
It’s really just that easy!
(The Blaze) Is Melissa Harris-Perry—the MSNBC host who recently declared that kids belong to whole communities— stirring up controversy again?
On today’s episode on finding solutions to poverty, Newsbusters noticed that Harris-Perry’s colleague Chris Hayes appeared in a quick video clip at the end of one segment holding up a handwritten sign with his answer: “Giving people money. It’s actually that easy.”
The video appeared during Harris-Perry’s show, and Newsbusters’ Mark Finklestein was probably the only person who saw it, being MSNBC and their awesome ratings (sic). Mark …
