2010: Year of the Citizen
  4 Jan 2010     8:27 am

So here we are in 2010. I’ll be the first to say that I am not the least bit sorry to say goodbye. As painful and crazy as it was – both personally and politically – it was in many ways the start of something bigger than I could have imagined… as well as a renewal.
William Temple said during the 9/12 Taxpayer March on Washington that this fight was a continuation – not a beginning. The things we are fighting for are not new ideas. Freedom from tyranny and a …

Michael Steele: Stop throwing a hissy fit, tea partiers.
  17 Dec 2009     11:07 am

So at first, when I heard what Steele said this week I just rolled my eyes and moved on. It didn’t bother me. But I thought about it yesterday. And then I went to the RNC and heard him speak at their “tea party” yesterday and blame everything on the Democrats over and over. And I realized how clueless he really is.
At the risk of sounding too much like our President, let me be clear. I don’t want to see the party split. But I also think it’s silly to …

Bo-Tax: Why This Is A Problem
  15 Dec 2009     5:44 pm

Deep in the bowels of the health care monstrosity being rammed down our throats, there is a provision that will add a 5% tax on a “cosmetic surgery and medical procedures.”  The $849 cost of this bill, which Democrats in Congress have done such a brilliant job of ignoring thus far, has to be paid for somehow. And since the American people are the government’s primary source of income, the cost of the bill falls on the shoulders of the working class that this administration has promised over and over …

Today’s Code Red Rally
  15 Dec 2009     5:06 pm

Today, Americans showed up in force again at Upper Senate Park for the Code Red Senate Rally. Similar to Michele Bachmann’s House Call last month, today was a day for constituents to show up and speak to their Senators on their own turf. I just left the rally, and as I write this, Laura Ingraham is probably on stage riling people up. This will go strong for the rest of the day as people line up and wait to talk to their Senators.
The tone from Hill staffers and Capitol Police …

Coburn wants the bill read from the Senate floor. All of it. UPDATE: Coburn backing off.
  19 Nov 2009     4:16 pm

Crossposted at
After making the threat earlier this week, Coburn said, “I don’t know” when POLITICO asked if he would force a reading by Senate clerks on the floor.
With his colleagues eager to go home for the Thanksgiving break, it’s possible that Coburn may backoff.
Thanks, Coburn.
The 2,074-page Senate health care bill would take 34 hours to read cover to cover — and that’s just what Sen. Tom Coburn wants done on the Senate floor.
The Oklahoma Republican has threatened to invoke parliamentary rules to force the Senate clerk (or more likely, …

Sarah Palin on Oprah: No tears or jumping on couches
  19 Nov 2009      1:39 pm

For those of you that live under a rock, Palin ventured behind enemy lines, so to speak, and made a long awaited appearance on Oprah, designed to coincide with the release of her highly anticipated memoir, Going Rogue: An American Life. What better place to catapult a book that is already a best-seller into another stratosphere?
Overall, I thought the interview went well. Was it a game changer? Probably not. The people that loathe her will continue to do so. Those that tuned in to be impressed by Palin …

Obama seriously needs a lesson in humility.
  19 Nov 2009     10:25 am

Did you know that Obama has restored our position in the world? The polls say so, so it’s true. Everyone loves us!

“No. 1, I think that we’ve restored America’s standing in the world,” Obama said, citing polls about public confidence in the United States around the world.
“We’ve seen very specific areas of cooperation around the nuclear issue,” he said. “At the time of my inauguration, the world community was still divided on what Iran’s intentions were… We mobilized the international community… You now have validators like the International …

KSM, cowardly conservatives… and Obama the punisher?
  18 Nov 2009     6:39 pm

The Khalid Shaikh Mohammed backlash has been quite the spectacle. From Holder’s hearing today to Obama predetermining the outcome, this has been really unbelievable. Pulling the trial out military tribunes and moving to civilian courts is a fundamental change in how we deal with criminals. The options, as I see it, are this:
1. They don’t believe we are at war.
2. They don’t care we are at war, politics are more important.
Rudy Guiliani pointed out this morning on a conference call that those that bombed Pearl Harbor would never have been …

The Degradation of Decorum and Odd Role Reversals
  11 Nov 2009     10:28 am

In case you missed it, teabagging is now an acceptable term from Presidents.
Here’s the thing. I’m younger than a lot of my readers. I was 11 when I learned what a “Lewinsky” was from my President. Classy, right? That’s a huge problem. It brought something that was not even on my radar into every day conversation, and made it not only acceptable, but entertainment. If I was older, I probably would have been humiliated. However, it was just novel and funny to a middle schooler, and our President made it …

Michele Bachmann’s House Call.
  5 Nov 2009     9:21 pm

I have some seriously mixed emotions right now. Today was amazing. I was blown away by the shift in the GOP Representatives. There were so many who were FINALLY getting it. It was like they realized we weren’t going away, and they’d better get on board.
It’s about time.
I have been busting my tail all week to help anyone I could help with logistics. This was an odd event in that no one was really in charge. Rep. Bachmann (who I have openly admitted to having a girl crush on) announced …

New Jersey: Go vote.
  3 Nov 2009     9:51 am

I got to spend part of my weekend in Jackson, New Jersey. It was a blast. You people up in NJ are crazy in the best possible way. I got there around lunch time and it was freezing and drizzling, but people still showed up. I think I bring inclement weather with me everywhere I go – I’ve spoken at just two Tea Parties that didn’t get rained on – it was over 100 both times. Both are inconvenient. The amazing thing is that nobody leaves. And that was the …

Meet Juanita Tillery.
  2 Nov 2009     9:59 pm

Juanita Tillery is an 88 year old WWII Army Nurse veteran suffering from dementia. She is currently residing in The Hamptons in Houston full time assisted living  in Houston, Texas. Her daughter, Linda Oursler, lives in Franklin, Tennessee and has been handling her mother’s affairs.
Juanita’s care is paid for by the VA. Or, well, it was. Back in July, Linda received a letter from the VA stating that they needed a record of Juanita’s medical expenses for the year, just as they do every year, and that if they were …

Convenient Rape and the Senate
  21 Oct 2009     12:20 am

Lefties care about rape when it is convenient to do so. If they don’t have to go out of their way to check pesky facts or give up a decent movie script *polankispupportingdouchebags* or take a hit in the abortion debate or defend a conservative woman, rape is bad.
Currently there’s a meme floating around regarding the Franken Amendment. Just to give you all some background, this started with the Jamie Leigh Jones case. Here’s the backstory:
In legal papers Jones, who was 20 at the time, says she was fed a …

CT Attorney General goes after private insurers.
  6 Oct 2009      2:05 am

From Reuters:
NEW YORK (Reuters) – The Connecticut attorney general is seeking information about what the state’s five largest health insurers may have sent policyholders over legislation that would reform the Medicare program for the elderly.
The information requests announced on Friday follow a U.S. government probe announced last month into a letter sent from Humana Inc (HUM.N) to its Medicare members that caused a stir on Capitol Hill.
Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal wants information from Aetna Inc (AET.N), UnitedHealth Group Inc (UNH.N), Health Net (HNT.N), WellPoint Inc’s (WLP.N) Anthem Health Plans …

The Chicago Smackdown
  2 Oct 2009     5:48 pm

So the Olympics won’t be in Chicago. Excuse me while I recover from my heartbreak.
Here’s the thing: our mission is not to bring down Obama. Our mission is to support free markets, personal liberty, and accountability. This movement isn’t about Barack Obama the man. This is about what he stands for, which is big government, higher taxes, and less personal responsibility. We can’t look at one specific incident and rejoice that the world has “seen the light”.
No matter how much fun it may be… because it is fun.
The bigger issue …

Feminists and rape. And Whoopi Goldberg is an idiot.
  30 Sep 2009     4:07 pm

Crossposted at
According a recent conversation on The View, there are apparently varying degrees of rape. And Whoopi Goldberg doesn’t think that oral, anal, and vaginal pentration, despite being told no (several times), was actually rape.
So here’s the thing, Whoopi. Rape is rape. As AllahPundit pointed out, Samantha Geimer’s testimony claims that it was, in fact, a “rape-rape”. And really, the only other person involved admitted to giving quaaludes and champaigne to a child before sodomizing her, so who do you trust?
Tommy Christopher sums up my thoughts exactly.
Whoopi floats the …
