HHS: We Need Money To Implement Obamacare
12 May 2013
3:39 pm
While last Friday’s IRS bombshell was disturbing, another story equally shocking. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is hungry for funds to implement the Affordable Care Act on time. Congress has rejected the Obama administration’s request for more funds to subsidize the initiative. Sarah Kliff wrote on May 10 that the HHS is working with a “shoestring budget,” and now its secretary is going to the health care industry pleading for money.
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has gone, hat in hand, to health industry officials, asking them to make …

Live Action: AZ Abortionist Tells Woman To Not ‘Torture’ Herself About Baby’s Appearance
2 May 2013
2:59 pm
Live Action has released a new video exposing post-birth abortion (infanticide) in a new investigative video from a clinic in Arizona. Dr. Laura Mercer, the abortionist featured in the footage, details how the baby is terminated within the womb. From the digoxin injection through the belly that stops the baby’s heart to the removal of the child, which Mercer said is commonly done in pieces, the grotesque nature of late-term abortion, like those performed by Kermit Gosnell and LeRoy Carhart, is made explicitly clear. Mercer said the remains are taken …

Live Action Shows That Gosnell Isn’t Alone
28 Apr 2013
1:33 pm
Gosnell is an outlier. Gosnell is the end result of anti-choice legislation. More Gosnells will be created if abortions are outlawed, and pro-lifers hate women. These were the many talking points pushed by the pro-abortion crowd when conservatives put Dr. Kermt Gosnell – and his Philadelphia abortion clinic – back into the limelight. Now, Live Action has released a new video after a six-month investigation exposing how Gosnell isn’t alone when it comes to committing infanticide.
In the video, it states that forty-one percent of all New York pregnancies end in abortion, and a baby born in …

Kentucky Progress: Did the Left Put A “Hit” On Senator McConnell
11 Apr 2013
7:45 pm
We know now that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s recent campaign strategy meeting regarding Ashley Judd was recorded by Progress Kentucky, who admitted to making the tape, and that it was done outside in an adjacent hallway. David Corn, who broke the story, has no comment. Local Kentucky Democrat, Jacob Conway, said he outed the group to “protect the Democratic Party.” Regardless, it still doesn’t negate the fact this recording was used by the left in a possible premeditated attack to oust McConnell in 2014. It may sound odd, but there’s enough evidence to raise one’s suspicions.

Equal Pay Day 2013: Democrats’ Hypocrisy on Full Display
11 Apr 2013
10:33 am
As America observed Equal Pay Day on Tuesday, Democratic politicians hypocritically used this day for political gain and shameless politicking.
Let me be clear: I’m in favor of equal pay; women should be paid at the same rate and be afforded the same opportunities as men. This isn’t not a partisan issue. I have both a sister and sister-in-law that masterfully balance their professional careers with raising children. Furthermore, when my nieces grow up, I want them to have the same possibilities that I had — and if they’re short-changed, this uncle …

Kagan ’09: ‘There is No Federal Constitutional Right to Same-Sex Marriage’
28 Mar 2013
10:39 am
Let’s take a stroll down memory lane. It’s 2009, and Elena Kagan is answering questions during her confirmation hearing for the position of Solicitor General within the Obama administration. According to William Jacobson at Legal Insurrection, who posted this piece on March 25, this is what she had to say about gay marriage:
1. As Solicitor General, you would be charged with defending the Defense of Marriage Act. That law, as you may know, was enacted by overwhelming majorities of both houses of Congress (85-14 in the Senate and 342-67 in the House) in …

Is The Marketplace Fairness Act A Giant Tax Increase?
28 Mar 2013
2:25 am
The Marketplace Fairness Act passed last Friday, and conservatives are somewhat lukewarm about it. As Robert W. Wood wrote in Forbes on March 23,
…[the bill] doesn’t impose a federal tax or even a new state tax. Online sellers are already required to collect sales tax from customers in their own states. But under the Supreme Court’s 1992 holding in Quill v. North Dakota, retailers don’t always have to collect.” They must collect sales tax from out-of-state customers only if they have a physical presence (store, warehouse or office) in the customer’s state. Since …

Bostic Hopes For A ‘Ted Cruz’ Moment Against Sanford
22 Mar 2013
10:20 am
In the the race to fill the vacant seat left by former Congressman – now Senator – Tim Scott (R- South Carolina), we have disgraced former Gov. Mark Sanford (R-South Carolina) and Curtis Bostic. Sanford failed to received 50% of the vote, which means there’s going to be a runoff election on April 2.
Robert Behre of the Post and Courier wrote yesterday that:
Bostic said Sanford stole tax money, abandoned his post, lied to the people of South Carolina and broke ethics laws.
“I think it’s entirely appropriate that we forgive Governor Sanford for those failures,” he …

Sen. Feinstein’s Assault Weapons Ban Amendment is DOA
19 Mar 2013
6:29 pm
Well, any conservative could have seen this coming, despite the incessant rambling of anti-gun zealots calling for a ban on so-called assault weapons. The first ban had a de minimis effect on lowering violent crime, and Democrats paid a heavy political price during the ’94 midterms for it. Now, the Washington Post’s Ed O’Keefe reports today that this anti-gun provision is dead on arrival. Furthermore, it’s not included in the official bill, but as an amendment to it.
Instead of including the assault weapons ban in the final bill, Feinstein said Senate Majority Leader Harry M. …

CPAC: NRA’s LaPierre Defends Second Amendment Freedoms, Mocks Biden’s Shotgun Advice
15 Mar 2013
4:05 pm
Wayne LaPierre, the National Rifle Association’s Executive Vice President and CEO, gave a poignant defense of our Second Amendment rights at CPAC today. He admitted that his views on guns don’t get him “invited to a lot of parties in this town.” He took a proverbial shot at the media for the NRA’s alleged extremism, but said that they could call him crazy, “but the NRA’s five million members and America’s 100 million gun owners won’t back down.”
He aptly noted that “our Founding Fathers knew that without Second Amendment freedom … …

CPAC: Folks, Mitt Romney Lost
15 Mar 2013
4:02 pm
Mitt Romney addressed CPAC this afternoon, and I did support his candidacy. After all, he was the only person in our miserable 2012 crop of candidates that had the best chance of winning. However, his communications team was mostly on defense, his high-tech GOTV ORCA program crashed rendering 30,000 volunteers helpless on Election Day, and his candidacy prohibited conservatives from talking about health care. As a result, he lost, and gave Obama a second term.
Romney began his speech with:
Of course, I left the race disappointed that we didn’t win. But I also …

If Trump Comes to CPAC, So Should Chris Christie
11 Mar 2013
4:25 pm
The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) begins this week, and New Jersey Republican Governor Chris Christie wasn’t invited. His antics towards House Republicans, his bashing of the NRA, and his unofficial endorsement of Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo made sure that wouldn’t happen. Christie said that he agreed with Cuomo, one of the most liberal governors in the country, on “98% of the issues.” Yeah, he’s no conservative, but neither is Donald Trump.
Trump has given millions to Democratic candidates, and his invitation to speak at CPAC places the American Conservative Union in an …

When Did Success Become Anathema to Feminists?
11 Mar 2013
4:22 pm
We live in a two income household nation, and the days of men being the sole breadwinners are dying. Women are the majority of wage earners, and if the trends continue, they’ll become the main income earners by 2030. So, women have made massive strides in the socio-economic landscape, and that’s a good thing. However, when it comes to successful women, feminists can’t stand them.
It seems idiotic. Feminists have long clamored that there aren’t enough women in Congress, corporate board rooms, sports, etc., but seem perfectly content with cannibalizing their own when one …

Ana Marie Cox Thinks Breitbart and His ‘Minions’ Are Bad Bad People
28 Feb 2013
1:35 pm
Ana Marie Cox of the Guardian isn’t on our team. That’s fine. However, to label us the “jackass” wing of journalism only demonstrates the left’s inability to hold their own side accountable. She seems to feel that all of the criticism she outlines in her piece about conservative media are absent on the left. This Friday will mark the one year anniversary of Andrew Breitbart’s passing, and it seems Cox is frustrated, angry, and perhaps threatened by the legacy he left behind.
Let’s just get this out of the way right up front: Ana Marie …

Acorn-Affiliated Blueprint NC Puts A Hit On State’s Republican Leadership
23 Feb 2013
12:40 pm
The war of ideas is alive and well. In North Carolina, it’s taken a vicious turn, with progressives targeting the state’s Republican leadership and Governor Pat McCrory, who was elected in 2012. Spearheading this effort is a 501 (c)(3) group known as BluePrint NC, which, according to their website:
is a partnership of public policy, advocacy, and grassroots organizing nonprofits dedicated to achieving a better, fairer, healthier North Carolina through the development of an integrated communications and civic engagement strategy. Ultimately, Blueprint aims to influence state policy in NC so that residents of the state …

Gov. Baby-Killer?
22 Feb 2013
5:57 pm
Over the weekend, Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-New York) announced that he plans to relax his state’s abortion law, and allow women to obtain late-term abortions if their health is at stake. It provides more latitude against the current statute, which says the only legal justification for a late-term abortion – as defined by the Supreme Court – is when the pregnancy threatens the mother’s health. Not surprisingly, pro-life activists are nervous.
Aaron Blake of the Washington Post wrote on February 20 that:
…while abortion rights very much remain a 50-50 issue in American society, late-term abortion is particularly charged.
A recent …

Joe Biden Advocates Breaking The Law
22 Feb 2013
11:02 am
So, the Vice President argued that Americans should break the law in order to ward off would-be attackers. Besides being a spokesman for shotguns, Biden advised to fire warning shots into the air to scare intruders away. In a Facebook chat last Tuesday, the Vice President said that he instructed his wife, Jill, to blast shotgun rounds outside the house in such circumstances. As Keith Koffler noted today, in some states, firing rounds into the air is illegal.
According to USNews, Mrs. Biden could be charged in Delaware with aggravated menacing – a felony …

Michael Bloomberg Scalps Toi Hutchinson In Special Election to Fill Jackson’s Seat
22 Feb 2013
10:51 am
As Jesse Jackson, Jr. awaits sentencing for misuse of campaign funds, the special election to replace him has seen State Sen. Toi Hutchinson drop out due to her positive ratings from the NRA. Hutchinson, a Democrat, received an A- rating from the organization, which is anathema to Democratic voters. Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York and his anti-gun super PAC have been trying to pick off pro-gun Democrats before the primary. As a result, Hutchinson dropped out of the race.

That Ted Cruz Is So Canadian
18 Feb 2013
11:49 am
As Bryan Preston and Stephen Kruiser noted last week, the liberal media has mounted a campaign to destroy Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas). He’s a high priority target because he goes against everything the media has said about the Tea Party, and conservatism in general. For all the talk about the Tea Party’s anti-intellectualism, Cruz received his B.A. at Princeton University, and his Juris Doctor at Harvard University. He also clerked for Chief Justice William Rehnquist. As George Will wrote back in June of 2011,
By the time Ted Cruz was 13, he was winning speech contests …

Kentucky Democrats Worry About Judd Crashing The Party
14 Feb 2013
11:29 pm
According to Joshua Miller’s February 13 piece on Roll Call, an Ashley Judd senate candidacy would give Kentucky Democrats “heartburn.”
…for many Bluegrass State Democrats, a potential Judd run brings a different feeling: heartburn. “If she runs, I think that it would be a catastrophe for a lot of downballot races in Kentucky,” said Jimmy Cauley, a longtime Kentucky Democratic strategist who doesn’t believe Judd can win a general election. Among Democratic state legislators, he said, “there is significant worry about Ashley being on the ballot.”
Democrats plugged into the Frankfort, Ky., zeitgeist publicly …
