Kinky Really Didn’t Endorse Perry
  26 Aug 2011     10:45 am

The Daily Beast asked Kinky Friedman, who has run against Perry for Governor of Texas in the past, to write an article about Perry. They titled it “Kinky For Perry.” Everyone is saying this is an endorsement, but it’s not.
This morning on a 740 am radio interview, Kinky said he never endorses anyone. He said he felt since everyone was bashing on Perry so badly, he would write some positive things about him. And that he did:
“….simply put, Rick Perry and I are incapable of resisting each other’s charm. He …

No Victory Yet In Libya
  25 Aug 2011     5:11 pm

I thought it strange that two days ago Pres. Obama spoke about Libya as if it was a done deal. Obama said, “The end of the Gadhafi regime in Libya is a victory for the Libyan people and for the broader cause of freedom in the Middle East and throughout the world.”
A victory? Not so much (emphasis mine):
But despite the recent rebel advances at Zawiyah, any expectation that the collapse of the Qaddafi regime is imminent — a statement made regularly by all of the NATO militaries now contributing resources …

‘A Week With My Father’ Needs Help!
  24 Aug 2011     2:01 pm

Last February I wrote about this reality show in the works called “A Week With My Father.” I see this as a reality show that can make a real difference in people’s lives. Not just the junk most reality shows are. I wrote then:
“At the very root of the problems in the African American community is fatherless homes. A child needs a father. I think we can see in the inner city what happens when a father is not there. A child finds itself lost. To repair the black family …

My Own Advice To National Media Coming Back To Texas
  23 Aug 2011     1:48 pm

Kyrie O’Connor, deputy managing editor for features at the Houston Chronicle has some advice for out-of-state reporters suddenly returning to Texas. It’s good advice. I don’t quibble with a bit of it, in fact the line about secession (#5) was hilarious. But I would like to add my own bit of advice to the national media coming on back to these parts:
1) Yes, the sterotypes are true. The love for our country and state runs deep and wide. Don’t question it, learn from it.
2) We are, for the most part, …

Liberalism Made Into Policy
  9 Aug 2011     2:05 pm

While Rush Limbaugh keeps insisting that Obama is purposely trying to destroy America, a position I still do not buy, WSJ lays out exactly why we are staring at the worst economy we have had since the great depression. When liberal vision becomes reality, this is what we are left with:
Upon taking office, Mr. Obama proceeded to unleash the entire liberal economic and social policy arsenal in the name of ending the panic. Whether or not these were his own convictions, the President allowed the Pelosi Congress to …

The Tea Party Keeps Fighting The Good Fight
  8 Aug 2011     11:02 am

So, as we all know by now, Standard and Poor’s has downgraded the United States’ credit rating by one notch from AAA to AA+ for the first time in the history of the ratings. One had to laugh at John Kerry and David Axelrod on the Sunday shows this weekend trying to start the meme “this is a tea party downgrade.”  They are trying to argue that the Tea Party back lawmakers who refused to raise taxes and insisted upon Cap, Cut and Balance, are the reason S&P decided to downgrade. …

Sometimes We Can All Agree On What Is ‘Hate’
  5 Aug 2011     2:38 pm

Thursday I wrote about the hypocrisy of many on the left who mock Gov. Perry for his prayer rally this weekend, but never for Obama for basically doing the same thing. Some of the commenters pointed out that one of the sponsors of the prayer event was the American Family Association out of Mississippi. They were saying they were a “hate group.” I usually don’t listen to anyone who uses the phrase “hate group” because it has become fashion to call any organization that disagrees with you on the issues …

The Hypocrisy Of The Left On Faith
  4 Aug 2011     6:45 am

The Houston Press and the Dallas Observer went all out snarky on Texas Gov. Perry’s upcoming prayer rally at Reliant Stadium called “The Response.” How can you blame them?  Christians are the only group that one who is politically correct can make fun of.  Funny though. Last week when President Obama gathered with Christian leaders to pray about the debt ceiling vote, these guys couldn’t find their snarky pills. For some reason they find it hilarious to make fun of Gov. Perry praying, but not so much when it’s Pres. Obama. In …

Who Won? No One
  2 Aug 2011     12:14 pm

The Boehner Bill passed the House and is expected to pass the Senate later today, and Obama will sign it. The bill caused much division. The Tea Party Congressmen saying we needed deeper cuts, and the leftwing saying we needed to raise taxes with it.
There was a feel good moment when Gabby Giffords was able to come and vote in the House. It reminded us of when Pres. Obama asked us to be more civil with each other after her shooting. Sadly, no one listened to the President, including the …

Sen. Marco Rubio Nails It
  31 Jul 2011     12:16 pm

Sen. Marco Rubio plainly and simply explains what is going on with the argument about the debt limit. He perfectly lays out what the problem is. The tactics and delay of the Senate is absurd. Rubio is one of our Tea Party heros. He understands how warped things are in Washington. He is standing up for the people who elected him. The way this newbie freshman Senator schools Sen. John Kerry, who is a part of the problem, is a wonderful thing to watch. I love how Rubio quotes Obama …

Can House Speaker Boehner Lead?
  29 Jul 2011     1:24 pm

While most Americans were relaxing after work last night, all of us political junkies were on twitter, and had our eyes glued to the news. It was pretty interesting to read the real time tweets from the Capitol reporters on the debt ceiling bill presented by Speaker Boehner. The House was supposed to vote on the Boehner plan last night, but those pesky Tea Party freshman were not going along with a bill that really didn’t address our problems. Conservative organizations like FreedomWorks and Americans For Prosperity also came out …

Even Democrats Oppose Obama On Gun Control Treaty
  27 Jul 2011     11:52 am

For awhile now I’ve gotten e-mails from people concerned about Pres. Obama and this administration restricting gun rights. I honestly thought they were being a bit conspiratorial. That is, until I read this:
Twelve Democratic senators have joined 45 Republicans in a fast growing movement to halt progress on an Obama-backed United Nations effort that could bring international gun control into the United States and slap America’s gun owners with severe restrictions.
Montana Democratic Sen. Jon Tester’s office today provided Whispers with their letter, signed by 11 other Democrats, urging the president …

‘The Tea Party, Right About Everything’
  25 Jul 2011     12:05 pm

Yes, the media and the left tried to paint the Tea Party as racist, uneducated, and wrong. But that was what they wanted it to be. They wanted to discredit it because they knew how powerful it could be. It turns out it wasn’t racist. In fact, many of the big speakers at the big Tea Party gatherings (and the smaller ones) were black and Hispanic and were cheered and shown utter support. Turned out it wasn’t uneducated. A NYT’s poll showed the Tea Party people were successful and educated. …

Black Activists Slam Rep. Wasserman Schultz’s Targeted Attack on Black Colleague
  21 Jul 2011     5:38 pm

I hesitated to write about the Congressman Allen West’s back and forth with DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Shultz because I don’t think the American people are interested in silly tiffs between politicians. But Wasserman Shultz seems to want to make a big deal out of a private e-mail she made public, where he wrote and said she was vile and despicable for saying that he would rather protect big oil and millionaires than his constituents in Florida.
It’s like this. I don’t like name calling. But I won’t stand by and …

Obamacare Stalled The Economy (A Must Read Update!)
  19 Jul 2011     3:53 pm

From Heritage.org:
Private-sector job creation initially recovered from the recession at a normal rate, leading to predictions last year of a “Recovery Summer.” Since April 2010, however, net private-sector job creation has stalled. Within two months of the passage of Obamacare, the job market stopped improving. This suggests that businesses are not exaggerating when they tell pollsters that the new health care law is holding back hiring. The law significantly raises business costs and creates considerable uncertainty about the future. To encourage hiring, Congress should repeal Obamacare.
This is something Obama won’t …

Barack Obama accused of crime against humanity for killing Bin Laden
  18 Jul 2011     8:12 pm

From the LA Times:
Barack Obama, the Nobel Peace Prize-winning president who ordered the Seal Team Six to kill Osama bin Laden, is now being accused of committing a crime against humanity for the act that sent countless people to the streets to celebrate.
Daniel Fiol, a Spanish lawyer, submitted a written complaint to the International Criminal Court accusing Obama of violating the Geneva Convention, according to the Telegraph UK.
Fiol wrote that the terrorist leader should have been “pursued, arrested, tried and convicted” as opposed to being assassinated in his hideout in …

Where Do We Go From Here?
  13 Jul 2011     10:46 am

I notice the arguments between the left ande the right always follow the same line. The left blames Bush for the economy because of two unpaid for wars, a tax cut, and wall street greed. The right blames the CRA, banks being forced to give risky loans, and wall street greed, made worse by Obama, his stimulus, his huge spending spree, and Obamacare.
Let’s say, for the sake of argument, that everyone is right, at least to some extent. Because one thing we all agree on is that the government, whether …

Republicans Can’t Cave
  12 Jul 2011     2:05 pm

Adam Hasner at NRO:
We just can’t cave.
After months of posturing and failed leadership from President Obama and politicians of both parties, the debate on the debt limit is finally coming to a head.
I honestly believe we have reached a moment in history when the fate of our country is at a crossroads.
Down one road is an uncertain future marked by reckless spending that deepens the debt and deficits that are killing jobs and holding American prosperity hostage. The elites and experts tell us we have no choice but to …

Pres. Obama Was Against Tax Increases Before He was For Them
  11 Jul 2011     3:00 pm

I was able to keep up on news of the debt talks while I was away. I am simply amazed at what the media lets Obama get away with. You may have noticed the new talking point of the President is tax hikes for “corporate jet owners.” He said it seven times in a recent speech. Why seven times? To make sure it was included in any sound bite the media used. Obama knows as well as most, that you can tax “corporate jet owners” 100% and it won’t bring …
