A Paul Ryan Speech That Is a Must Read
  26 Oct 2011     4:31 pm

Paul Ryan gave a speech on the politics of division at Heritage today. Read the whole thing, but here is the heart of it:
Speaking of what Obama said as a candidate:
Do you remember what he said? He said that what’s stopped us from meeting our nation’s greatest challenges is, quote, “the failure of leadership, the smallness of our politics – the ease with which we’re distracted by the petty and trivial, our chronic avoidance of tough decisions, our preference for scoring cheap political points instead of rolling up our sleeves …

Not Like This
  21 Oct 2011     8:23 am

I can’t be the only one disturbed by the video of Qaddafi’s dead bloody body being thrown around and beaten for the camera. As one Lebanese-American journalist and activist I follow on twitter tweeted, @iRevolt: “It’s one thing to feel elated at the ousting, removal, etc. of a dictator; turning death into a corpse-whoring party is another.”
I thought of the sickening hanging of Saddam Hussein, where the rope tore through his throat. Although we didn’t witness it or see it, I imagine the shooting of Osama bin Laden wasn’t pretty …

A Little Advice For Occupy Wall Street
  13 Oct 2011     10:32 am

bill hallowelltheblaze.com
Here is a letter from Brookfield Properties, that owns the park that the NY protesters are living in right now, to NYPD chief Ray Kelly. While they support the right of the protesters to protest, the park has become disgusting. In part it says:
The conditions at the park have deteriorated to unsanitary and unsafe levels.
……
Additionally, we have received hundreds of phone calls and e-mails from concerned citizens and office workers in the neighborhood. Complaints range from outrage over numerous laws being broken including, but not limited to lewdness, groping, …

David Dewhurst Thanks Pres. Obama For The Stimulus
  12 Oct 2011     1:29 pm

Really? Are you kidding me? In case you aren’t aware. David Dewhurst is running in Texas against Ted Cruz for Kay Bailey Hutchinson’s seat in the Senate. Dewhurst will now tell you that he is totally against the 2009 Obama stimulus, but YouTube says differently. Maybe it’s just me, but I think as a conservative, you would rather have someone who hasn’t thanked Obama for the stimulus debacle. I think it tells us how he would vote in the Senate for more spending, which is how we got into this …

Occupy Wall Street, Drugs, Working, and Being a 100 Percenter
  10 Oct 2011     2:59 pm

This scathing and HILARIOUS blog post about the Occupy Wallstreeter’s “We Are the 99 Percent” posts, is not only funny (hysterically so) for those of us on the right, but it really does illustrate the different mind set of each side.
Although the authors of the piece, Lori and Jenn, mock the notes written, the bigger point is serious. These kids think they are entitled to things. They think that life is unfair, and the government or somebody should do something to make it fair. They don’t seem to be the …

We Shouldn’t Ignore the Danger Of Occupy Wall Street
  7 Oct 2011     11:45 am

Occupy Wall Street is growing with protests across the country. We on the right have had fun making fun of the protesters protesting against capitalism and corporatism while using all the corporate products that we all enjoy, but I think it’s time we stopped making fun of them. Because whether you think they are silly in their demands, or radical in their speech, or that you don’t think that most even know what they are protesting, they can cause a lot of damage to our economy. The following from …

The Fast and Furious Coverup
  6 Oct 2011     10:56 am

It looks like the Obama administration scandal Fast and Furious is growing. If you aren’t familiar with what Fast and Furious is, I’ll try and catch you up. Some agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) became concerned with this program in June and came forward. Instead of making sure guns were not in the hands of the drug cartels, agents were told to deliberately allow gun traffickers in Arizona to purchase weapons for Mexican drug cartels, which would end up crossing the border into Mexico. …

I’m Not Sure What ‘Occupy Wall Street’ Is Protesting, But We Could Come Together On One Thing
  4 Oct 2011     10:10 am

The Occupy Wall Street Crowd is finally getting the media coverage it wanted when hundreds were arrested crossing over the Brooklyn Bridge a few days ago. On twitter many conservatives have been making fun of the protesters who seem to be young people not sure of what they are protesting. They know they are “anti corporatism,” just not sure what that means exactly. People have been making fun of the protesters for shouting about corporations while on their Apple laptops and drinking Snapple, while listening to their I-pods and talking …

An Invitation To Morgan Freeman
  28 Sep 2011     11:25 am

(Ali Akbar pictured above)
You may have heard recently about actor Morgan Freeman’s bashing of the Tea Party. He said that the Tea Party is racist. A tired old disgusting meme that the left is determined to paint us with. It is one which has been disproved time and time again. Not only by the many black Tea Party speakers that we in the Tea Party adore, but also by our love for Herman Cain and Allen West. Color clearly has nothing to do with our problem with Obama. It’s …

Obama Hates Me, But Then I Don’t Think He’s Too Fond of The CBC Either
  27 Sep 2011     10:13 am

Pres. Obama gave a rousing speech to the CBC (Congressional Black Caucus) this week. It was given with his usual practice of dropping his “g’s” when he speaks to a black audience (which I consider insulting). He made sure to diss Perry, which is understandable, he’s a candidate that might be running against him, but Obama also took the opportunity to diss American citizens. Using the one or two uncivil people in the audience at the GOP debates to paint all of us on the conservative side with the same …

About Those GOP Candidates So Far
  26 Sep 2011     9:23 am

Let’s get an update on the GOP candidates for President. I’ve watched the debates. I was especially interested in how Perry would do. As everyone in Texas knows, Gov. Perry did’n’t debate Bill White last time he was running for Governor. I wondered if it was because his debating skills aren’t the best.
I know conservatives love Perry for his stance on the issues, (although his Texas Dream Act and the Guardasil decision has them uneasy) but it takes more than just being right on the issues to get through …

Let’s Be Honest
  24 Sep 2011     1:21 pm

The left went crazy nuts over the fact that some audience members booed a gay American soldier after he asked this question at the last GOP debate:
“My question is, under one of your presidencies, do you intend to circumvent the progress that’s been made for gay and lesbian soldiers in the military?”
It was certainly wrong to boo this soldier, no matter what his question, because of the sacrifice he makes, but does anyone doubt for a moment that if a soldier had asked at a Democrat debate, “Are any …

The Blame Obama Poverty Tour of Cornel West and Tavis Smiley
  22 Sep 2011     9:09 am

Hold on to your coffee mugs. I am about to write a post defending Pres. Obama.
Adam Serwer at American Prospect writes a piece about Prof. Cornel West and talk show host Tavis Smiley’s “Poverty Tour.” Prof. West and Mr. Smiley are touring poor communities to bring attention to the extreme poverty specifically in the black communities. The surprising thing is that these gentlemen are pointing fingers at Pres. Obama. They see Obama as ignoring black concerns.
His words for Obama are both harsh and personal: “We’ve had so many leaders who …

Let’s Call It ‘The American Class Warfare Package’
  19 Sep 2011     11:59 am

So, Obama’s new plan is the old plan. He hasn’t changed his tune since he told Joe The Plumber that we need to “spread the wealth around.”
From the AP:
President Barack Obama called for $1.5 trillion in new taxes Monday, part of a total 10-year deficit reduction package totaling more than $3 trillion.
Obama said, “It’s only right we ask everyone to pay their fair share,”
Really? Because 47% of Americans pay NO federal income tax and “the rich” (top 1%) pay about 40% of all income taxes into the federal …

Gov. Perry and the HPV Vaccine..The Rest Of The Story
  15 Sep 2011     11:08 am

Gov. Perry has been taking heat for the controversial executive order he issued four years ago that mandated that all 11- and 12-year-old girls be vaccinated for human papillomavirus, or HPV, a sexually transmitted virus that can cause cervical cancer. The legislature made it non mandatory, and Perry has now admitted that he would handle it differently. He still believes in the vaccine, but he thinks he made a mistake by doing it by executive order.
Many are trying to link his order with political donations. Perry has said he …

NY-9 and What Was Obama Thinking?
  14 Sep 2011     2:00 pm

Where to start today? So many things.
Well, as a Republican, one can’t help but be giddy over a Republican winning Anthony Weiner’s old seat in NY-9. A staunchly Democrat area, heavily populated by Orthodox Jews, sent a Republican Catholic to represent them in what is considered to be a referendum of Obama’s handling of Israel. It didn’t help that Orthodox Jews, like Catholics, believe in traditional marriage and weren’t too happy about the Democrat’s support of gay marriage.
What a strange time we live in.
Of course, Many …

‘This Isn’t Class Warfare’ Yes, It Is
  13 Sep 2011     9:35 am

From NRO:
When President Obama outlined his $450 billion jobs plan in a speech before Congress last week, he promised it would all be “paid for,” and assured us he would present another plan outlining how he planned to do so. Well, here you have it:
The White House said Monday that President Obama wants to pay for his $447 billion jobs bill by raising taxes on the wealthy and businesses.
Jack Lew, director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), said the tax hikes would pay for Obama’s entire bill, which …

9-11, Ten Years Later
  10 Sep 2011     3:11 pm

Every year at this time I see the memorials of 9-11 on TV. I see the replaying of that horrible time, and I cry. My youngest son was only 4 years old when the towers fell. I try to make sure he remembers and understands what happened that day.
The positive thing that I will always remember is how we all came together as a nation. Never before in my lifetime had I seen that, and I’m afraid I will never see it again. But for that moment, we were …

Pres. Obama Turns To Conservative Ideas
  9 Sep 2011     12:14 pm

Two things.
Pres. Obama gave us the same as always last night. This “Jobs Bill” is just another stimulus. It didn’t work last time, and it won’t work this time. It’s crazy to imagine that a half-trillion dollars in more government stimulus (a number he failed to mention in his speech) is a good idea when America has more than $14 trillion in debt already! Obama used Warren Buffet to say that as rich as Buffet is, he pays too little in taxes. Could someone inform our President that his buddy …

The Many Disappointments With the MLK Memorial
  5 Sep 2011     11:51 pm

It was disappointing that the dedication of Martin Luther King Jr’s Memorial was postponed because of the hurricane, but almost as disappointing is the memorial itself. Considering that this memorial marks the first private citizen and not a President, to be honored in this place, I was very interested in how it would turn out.
Why they chose a man from China to be the sculptor is beyond me. I cannot imagine why they would choose a man from a country whose human rights abuses are something that MLK himself …
