The Bleak Future
  5 Nov 2012     7:47 pm

If Obama wins a second term its trajectory is already written in the history of his first:
Mr. Obama has governed from the left not because he miscalculated his priorities but because these are his priorities. His first term is best understood as a race to put himself in the pantheon of the great progressive Presidents—Wilson, FDR, LBJ—who expanded the state’s control over the private economy and over the wants and needs of the American middle class.
The price of this governing choice includes a weak recovery, achievements like ObamaCare that are …

Spending Everything While Building Nothing
  2 Nov 2012     7:26 pm

Mark Steyn on the utter failure of big government, Obama-style:
If you’re saying, “Whoa, that sounds expensive,” well, our government is more expensive than any government in history – and we have nothing to show for it. Imagine if Obama’s 2009 stimulus had been spent burying every electric pole on the Eastern Seaboard. Instead, just that one Obama bill spent a little shy of a trillion dollars, and no one can point to a single thing it built. “A big storm requires Big Government,” pronounced The New York Times. But Washington …

Think, People
  1 Nov 2012     7:25 pm

If you are a gun owner, a believer in the Second Amendment, you really, really need to start thinking.
Item: Obama telegraphed his support for an “assault weapon” ban in the debates – never mind that assault weapons are already illegal. What he wants to ban are semi-automatic rifles that look something like a real assault weapon.
Passed under a Democrat-controlled Congress in 1994, the assault weapons ban expired in 2004. Filled with loopholes, critics say it did little to reduce gun violence, since most crimes are committed with hand guns, not …

One Liners From Empty Chair Night
  24 Oct 2012     5:26 am

Jonathan Tobin at Commentary:
As I wrote last night, President Obama’s attack mode during the Boca Raton debate seemed to suggest that he was the challenger trailing in the race rather than the incumbent nursing an alleged lead. But the president’s nasty streak is also displaying itself on the campaign trail, where he has been trying out one-liners about his rival like a would-be comic at open mic night at a comedy club. Last week’s big yuck was his “Romnesia” crack that alludes to the fact that Romney has changed his …

50 Shades of Lame
  20 Oct 2012     6:12 pm

Mark Steyn:
On the stump, Obama is a man reborn. At a campaign stop outside Cedar Rapids — in what we expert analysts like to call the critical battleground of the Hawkeye State — the president declared: “I’ve got to tell you, we don’t have to collect a bunch of binders to find qualified, talented, driven young women.” No, sir! In the Democratic party, driven young women are dropping into your lap. At the Island Grove Regional Park Exhibition Hall in Greeley, Colo., Joe Biden told the crowd: “When Governor Romney …

You Might be an Obamanic-Depressive if…
  19 Oct 2012     6:31 pm

- You voted for Hope and Change – and found only Hype and “Chains”
- You voted for what you projected onto an empty slate – and found out he was really an empty chair
- You voted for a new style of politics – and got a nasty Chicago machine politician
- You voted for a different Washington – and found it was just Chicago after all
- You believed his spiel – and watched him drive you and yours into debt and desperation
- You voted for hope – and got doubled gas …

What an absolute fraud.
In the wake of Rep. Paul Ryan’s embarrassing soup kitchen photo-op last week, the organization that runs the facility tells The Huffington Post that donors have begun pulling their money out of the Youngstown, Ohio charity.
Ryan may have suffered a few late-night jokes, but the fallout for the soup kitchen appears to be far more bruising. Brian J. Antal, president of the Mahoning County St. Vincent De Paul Society, confirmed that donors have begun an exodus in protest over Ryan’s embarrassment. The monetary losses have been big. …

Do NOT Get Cocky
  14 Oct 2012     8:23 pm

I really want to believe this. However, I refuse to get complacent. Is there a Media Credibility Day™ coming? Da Tech Guy* thinks yes:
The clock is running down and Far left delusional chimps not withstanding nobody with skin in the game thinks Joe Biden turned this around.
So now comes the stories of Romney’s strength, they will start as a trickle but as it becomes clearer and clearer where this race is going, they will become a deluge until the media says with a straight face that of COURSE they saw …

American Dream
  13 Oct 2012     8:37 pm

My friend Phineas has a post that you really should go over and read. It is about this video:

And Hot Air has still more on the video.
This man had a chance to make his American dream come to be. He’s very successful, quite rich by any standard. But he arrived here broke – unable to speak English. And succeeded – paying, according to a quote over at Phineas’ about $1.9 billion in taxes along the way.  Undoubtedly, there are a lot of people who have or still do work for …

Mr. Obama, Unhand That Big Bird
  9 Oct 2012     8:24 pm

The folks behind Big Bird and Sesame Street are demanding release of the hostage held by the 0bama campaign. They want Big Bird set free.
Sesame Street isn’t amused. Sesame Workshop, a nonprofit educational organization that produces and owns the show, issued a statement Tuesday saying “we do not endorse candidates or participate in political campaigns. We have approved no campaign ads, and as is our general practice, have requested that the ad be taken down.”
This is the best that the ‘best and brightest’ over at the 0bunker can come with. …

The Real America
  7 Oct 2012     2:52 pm

Is vastly different that what you read about in the American press or on Facebook or Twitter. Well, in most of the press, that is. There are still a few real reporters out there. Like Salena Zito:
Since boarding a jetliner on Christmas night last year, this reporter has logged more than 8,600 miles in 21 states and has interviewed more than 1,200 people registered as or identifying with Democrats, all in an attempt to tell the stories of their pocketbooks, their families and their America.
Reality is like gravity: It can …
