NJ Democrat pushing pension reform exploited double-dip loophole
  2 Apr 2011     5:18 pm

I don’t know which is funnier.
A prominent NJ Democrat caught red-handed exploiting a loophole he’s pushing to eliminate, or
Public employee unions aiming their ire and indignation at the Democratic Party hands that feed them because of it.

State’s largest police union calls for Essex County Executive Joe DiVincenzo to resign
The state’s largest police union called on Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo Jr. to resign today in the wake of revelations that he is receiving a salary and a pension for the same job.
“This is unbelievable, the …

It’s about time New Jersey deregulated all telephone and cable TV services
  13 Mar 2011     5:47 pm

In a little over a week the NJ State Senate will vote on a bill to eliminate century-old regulations on telephone and cable television companies. It has already passed in the Assembly, by 66 – 7. The “Market Competition and Consumer Choice Act” (SB 2664) removes requirements for the Board of Public Utilities to micromanage every telecom business decision. Thanks to archaic rules established back when Marconi was an apprentice lineman the BPU has to approve even the smallest change to any …

Planned Parenthood redefines “Be Prepared” for the Girl Scouts
  6 Mar 2011     9:15 pm

Who was that yo-yo who said we need to stop focusing on social issues? Yeah thanks Mitch Daniels, I appreciate the advice. Too bad it’s wrong.
Today is Girl Scout Sunday. Churches across America are celebrating the accomplishments of our fine young women and their scout leaders. I had the honor of presenting the Mother of God Medal to Sophie during Mass. Eight Brownies in her troop worked very hard with Monsignor Desmond to earn this award. I know, because I was …

TSA wants your DNA
  26 Feb 2011     4:35 pm

I’ll bet you thought the TSA’s “enhanced” patdown procedures could not possibly get more invasive. Think again. Beginning this summer TSA will start collecting travelers’ DNA.
According to a report from The Daily the Department of Homeland Security plans to deploy portable DNA scanners at U.S. points of entry. They’re about the size of a desktop printer and can produce lab-quality DNA screenings in about an hour. So in addition to the full-body scanners and enhanced patdowns we’ll have to stand …

Human Rights poseurs cheer cancellation of George Bush’s Switzerland trip
  5 Feb 2011     3:15 pm

Former President George W. Bush won’t be attending a Jewish charity gala in Geneva next week. He was scheduled to be the keynote speaker at Keren Hayesod’s annual dinner on February 12th. But then a bunch of moonbat protesters announced plans to arrest him for allegedly “torturing” inmates at Guantanamo Bay and the Euro-weenies in the Swiss government got squeamish.
This is being hailed as some sort of “victory” or something.

Human rights groups said they had intended to submit a 2,500-page case against Bush …

Gay activists target Chick-Fil-A
  15 Jan 2011     3:12 pm

To the proponents of the radical homosexual agenda tolerance only goes one way. We must tolerate them, or else. As for their tolerance toward others, not so much.
The latest target of their ire is Chick-Fil-A. The restaurant chain is under fire because, horror of horrors, a single local franchisee promised to donate some sandwiches to an upcoming marriage conference. Can you guess why? Yup, it’s a Christian marriage conference.
The gay rights crowd can’t possible accept someone being generous toward those who actually believe …

Let’s break out the chainsaws – 5 programs the GOP can cut today
  8 Jan 2011     2:44 pm

I want to give Speaker John Boehner the benefit of the doubt. Really, I do. But it’s hard when he fumbles the gimmes like he did in an interview with Brian Williams of NBC News.

WILLIAMS: Name a program right now that we could do without.
BOEHNER: I don’t think I have one off the top of my head.

Dude. You’re on national television and you can’t name one useless government program? Tell me again why we elected you Speaker?
I’m no career politician but I can come up …

Sunset for the Criminals of Camelot
  2 Jan 2011     11:37 am

In another auspicious omen for 2011 Wednesday will mark the first time since 1947 that a member of the Kennedy family has not held federal office. Good riddance to bad rubbish! The Criminals of Camelot have been a pox on this great nation for far too long.
Was John F. Kennedy a great president? Not by me. When part of his legacy includes trying to stop the landmark March on Washington and having his brother, Attorney General Robert Kennedy, bug Martin Luther King’s hotel rooms and tap …

Happy New Year to your FSA and HSA from ObamaCare
  1 Jan 2011     1:30 pm

While you were celebrating the new year ObamaCare made your Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Savings Accounts much less valuable.  As of January 1st new restrictions on their use for over-the-counter medications, along with doubled penalties for paperwork screwups, will cause headaches for millions of Americans.
And no, you can’t just buy an aspirin for that headache with your FSA or HSA debit card.  Not unless you get a prescription from your doctor first.  If you try the IRS will ding you with a 20% tax penalty.
There are now more than …

Stephen Breyer: Your Constitutional Rights vary with geography
  12 Dec 2010     9:20 pm

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer appeared on Fox News Sunday this morning. He spoke to his interpretation of the Founding Fathers’ intent with regard to gun control. Hint — as an ultra-liberal Mr. Justice Breyer is totally in favor of as much gun control regulation as possible. After all, he authored the dissenting opinion in D.C. v. Heller in which the majority affirmed the right to keep and bear arms clearly articulated in the Second Amendment.
What struck me most about Breyer’s reasoning though was …

Barbie the child pornographer?
  5 Dec 2010     8:05 pm

According to the FBI the newest Barbie doll, one of the hottest gifts this Christmas, is in actuality the perfect gift for pedophiles. An alert sent out this past week warned that the new Barbie Video Girl, which features a camera and an LCD screen, could be used to create child pornography.

The FBI says that the doll is safe if used properly, and it has not encountered any instances of the doll being used to create pornography.
“Law enforcement is encouraged to be aware of …

UN IPCC official on Climate Change: A scam to steal from the rich to give to the poor
  27 Nov 2010     11:24 am

Well, the cat’s out of the bag now. We all knew that the guys who couldn’t tell us if it’s going to rain tomorrow were full of it when it came to their dire warnings of impending disaster due to “climate change”. All the hysteria had but one goal — wealth and resource redistribution.
If you needed any more evidence that the entire theory of manmade global warming was a scheme to redistribute wealth you got it Sunday when a leading member of the …

Make your check payable to “Bureau of the Public Debt” and STFU about raising taxes
  20 Nov 2010     5:07 pm

This kind of stuff cracks me up. Millionaires to Obama: Tax us more!

More than 40 of the nation’s millionaires have joined Patriotic Millionaires for Fiscal Strength to ask President Obama to discontinue the tax breaks established for them during the Bush administration.
“For the fiscal health of our nation and the well-being of our fellow citizens, we ask that you allow tax cuts on incomes over $1,000,000 to expire at the end of this year as scheduled,” their website states. “We make this request as …

Conditioning Americans to accept the unacceptable
  13 Nov 2010     10:34 pm

Every policeman is your friend. It’s an axiom taught to countless children in grade school. If you want to be safe you can always trust the police.
And until the advent of the TSA it’s a statement that probably was true.
Researching this post I happened to come across a detailed picture of a woman subjected to one of the TSA’s new naked body scanners. At the same time my nine year old daughter walked into the room. She exclaimed in surprise, that lady is naked! Yes Sophie, …

Meanwhile at the UN, America prostrated herself before tyrants
  7 Nov 2010     1:32 pm

While we were pre-occupied with the business of electing grownups to Congress President Training Pants moved his World Apology Tour into high gear. No, I’m not talking about India on $200 million dollars (or less) a day. That’s par for the course.
This week in Geneva for the first time in history three high-ranking members of the State Department appeared before the U.N. Human Rights Council to be questioned about America’s human rights record by the likes of Cuba, Iran, and North Korea. Isn’t that …

UNICEF: Trick or Treat for Abortion
  30 Oct 2010     11:08 am

Each year around this time I remind my readers that those ubiquitous orange UNICEF boxes their kids bring home from school are not nearly as innocuous as they seem. UNICEF undoubtedly does some good work. But there is a dark side to their mission. Abortion. UNICEF continues to fund programs that encourage more abortions, especially in Latin America and Africa.
In 2007 I noted that UNICEF has de-emphasized their focus on children and moved into the women’s rights and radical feminism arenas:
Leading the list of …

TOTUS will Boldly Go Where No Teleprompter Has Gone Before
  23 Oct 2010     7:55 am

There’s a bumper sticker on Air Force One — Have Teleprompter, Will Travel.
Barry plans to get out of Dodge right after the midterm election and one of the stops on his whirlwind junket will be Parliament House in Bombay. There he’ll address a joint session of India’s Parliament, accompanied of course by his trusty Teleprompter.
It’ll be Barry’s first visit to India where he’ll be the honored guest of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Speaking of “firsts”, never before has a Teleprompter been deployed in the historic …

Fallout from the mortgage meltdown, who really owns your house?
  16 Oct 2010     4:07 pm

Private property rights are a bedrock principle of our society. The Founding Fathers devoted significant effort into ensuring that those rights would be enshrined in our Constitution. But now, deep in the morass surrounding the latest mortgage and foreclosure scandals, we find ourselves facing a very real threat to those rights.
The plain fact is this, the problems associated with bad and/or fraudulent mortgage paperwork are not limited to properties in foreclosure. Oh sure the deadbeats are getting all the press. Government programs like HAMP are supposed to “fix” the foreclosure …

Ray LaHood tries to resuscitate the ARC Hudson River tunnel with … bike lanes?
  10 Oct 2010     3:44 pm

OK, not really. But bike lanes in a rail tunnel isn’t the most preposterous idea Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has come up with. And he is on record as being a huge fan of pedal power over motorized transport.
Mr. Bike Lanes swooped into Jersey yesterday seeking to persuade Governor Chris Christie to reconsider his decision to cancel the ARC Hudson River tunnel project.
“We need to know if you’re willing to look at options,” LaHood said. Sure, what …

Chris Christie’s Awesome Week
  9 Oct 2010     10:32 am

For a guy who’s “not running” for president Chris Christie is making all the right moves. New Jersey’s rock-star governor is on fire, raising money for national candidates, thrilling crowds from Iowa to California, standing up to the teachers union (while still being firmly committed to public education), and keeping his promises to eliminate wasteful government spending.
The defenders of the status quo still don’t quite know what to make of him. Surely he wouldn’t really pull the plug on the largest public works project in our state’s history? But …
