The ‘Free Lunch’ President
  30 Jul 2014     12:05 am

On Monday, Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew urged Congress to provide more resources for the exploding number of people on permanent disability. It’s part of the Obama administration’s “give away the store” mentality, encouraging the masses to sign up for government programs at taxpayers’ expense.

Even without Congress’ complicity, the administration is doing everything it can to expand government dependence, getting people on Obamacare subsidies, food stamps, earned income tax credits and disability payments. Federal workers routinely ignore — even blatantly violate — the laws that established these programs in order to …

Obamacare in Critical Condition
  23 Jul 2014     12:04 am

The nation’s No. 2 court on Tuesday slapped down the Obama administration in a 2-1 decision that could kill the president’s signature health-care law. A less-prestigious federal appeals court issued a contradictory opinion the same day, but if the Supreme Court upholds the D.C. Circuit’s ruling, it will force Congress back to the drawing board to design a health law that is genuinely affordable, not just falsely titled “Affordable Care Act.”

The ruling in Halbig v. Burwell bars the federal government from handing out taxpayer-funded subsidies to people who buy Obamacare …

Scaremongering: The Left’s Hobby
  16 Jul 2014     12:02 am

“Really, we should be afraid of this court,” said House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s June 30 Hobby Lobby ruling.

Afraid of Hobby Lobby? Nonsense. Democratic politicians are lying about the Court’s ruling, scaremongering and trying to whip up a war over reproductive rights before the fall election. Here are the lies they’re telling and the truth you need to know.
Referring to the justices’ 5-4 ruling, Pelosi expressed outrage that “five guys” will “start determining what contraceptions are legal.”
In truth, the Court did nothing like …

Death By Paperwork
  10 Jul 2014     12:01 am

On July 3, when Americans were preparing to celebrate freedom, the Obama administration reduced freedom by adding another 1,296 pages of regulations to Obamacare. The burdensome rules were published in the Federal Register on the eve of Independence Day, when few were likely to be watching. So much for transparency.

Obamacare regulations compel doctors and their office staff, restaurateurs, business owners, local government officials and others to spend hours filling out paperwork without getting paid for it. It’s a colossal theft. As of 2014, Obamacare regulations impose 159 million hours of …

Religious Freedom: Worth More Than $35
  2 Jul 2014     12:01 am

Yesterday, the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. that if you like your God, you can keep your God, even if you run a business.

The Obama administration tried to require that health plans provided at work cover contraception and morning after pills, no matter what an employer’s religious convictions. The Green family, owners of Hobby Lobby craft stores and a chain of Christian bookstores, provide insurance but refuse to cover morning after pills such as Plan B and Ella because these drugs violate their religion.

The ‘Service’ Is Gone From Civil Service
  25 Jun 2014     12:01 am

Last Friday’s congressional hearing on outlandish bonuses at the VA is the latest proof that the nation needs to overhaul how federal workers in every department are paid and promoted. They’re on the gravy train, and taxpayers are being taken for a ride.

Back in1883, Congress passed the Pendleton Act to replace patronage with a federal civil service where workers would be hired and paid based on merit. There is no MERIT anymore. Scramble the letters. What you have now is a TIMER system. Workers put in time, and get hefty …

Sanders/Mccain Va Reform Bill A Sham
  18 Jun 2014     12:01 am

Congress is rushing to pass a compromise drafted by Sens. John McCain, R-Arizona, and Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont, which claims to rescue vets from deadly waitlists. House and Senate leaders are conferring on a final version, congratulating themselves for bipartisanship. But in truth, the bill won’t speed up health care for vets. The fine print sabotages vets wanting to go outside the Veterans Affairs system.

Last week, the VA’s internal investigation revealed that 57,436 newly enrolled veterans are facing wait times of at least 90 days for a first appointment, and 63,869 …

Obamacore: Bad to the Core
  11 Jun 2014     12:05 am

In the past week, Govs. Nikki Haley of South Carolina and Mary Fallin of Oklahoma evicted Common Core from public schools, even at the risk of losing hundreds of millions of federal dollars promised to states adopting it. Haley and Fallin initially supported Common Core, but public outrage is forcing them to reverse course, and more states will follow. In New York, Rob Astorino, the Republican conservative challenger to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, vows to topple Common Core if he wins in November.

Move over, Obamacare. Midterm elections will also be referendums …

Sanders’ Bill Sandbags Vets
  4 Jun 2014     12:05 am

Richard Wilson, age 64, survived two tours in Vietnam, but he’s afraid he won’t survive the wait at his local Veterans Affairs hospital. Warned seven months ago that circulation blockages in his legs put him at imminent risk of a fatal heart attack or amputations, he called and emailed the VA daily. He’s in pain, unable to walk, his big toe recently turned black, and his wife is living in fear. Half a year went by before the VA even contacted him, and he’s still waiting for his surgery.

Eric Shinseki’s …

Public Unions Share the Blame For VA Deaths
  28 May 2014     12:05 am

Encouraging vets on Medicare to use civilian care instead of Veterans Affairs’ could cut the patient backlog at the VA by as much as half, solving a national crisis.

Almost half of vets are older than 65, and nearly all vets using the VA have Medicare coverage. Often, they’d be better off getting their bypass surgeries and cancer operations at civilian hospitals that do higher volumes of these age-related procedures and have better survival rates, instead of sticking with the VA. But the VA fails to tell them. The culprit is …

Obamacare’s Dangers for Seniors
  21 May 2014     12:06 am

On May 7, the Obama administration boasted that Obamacare was improving health care quality for seniors, pulling out a bag of statistical tricks to prove it. But a closer look shows that they’re not improving care. They’re skimping on it, socking seniors with unexpected bills for “observation care” and likely shortening their lives.

President Barack Obama’s Health and Human Services Department announced that fewer seniors discharged from the hospital are returning for additional care within a month’s time. HHS claims that this drop in “readmissions,” from 18.5 percent in 2012 to …

More Than Talk Needed to Rescue Trapped Vets
  14 May 2014     12:04 am

Leave it to President Barack Obama and Democrats in Congress to enact what they billed as “comprehensive” health reform and overlook the plight of 8.5 million veterans. That’s what they did in 2010 when they passed Obamacare. It provides coverage for convicts and even for newcomers to this country with no waiting period, but it does nothing to help the nation’s veterans, who have suffered waiting for care in the Veterans Affairs system for over 20 years.

This injustice can be fixed with a one-page bill that Congress should pass this …

Chris Christie Dodges Political Bullet
  8 May 2014     12:02 am

On Monday, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie dodged a political bullet when the United States Supreme Court declined to hear the National Rifle Association’s challenge to his state’s highly restrictive gun law. The justices’ decision not to hear the case Drake v. Jerejian leaves Second Amendment law in disarray. Federal appeals courts around the nation are ruling in conflicting ways, some upholding restrictions like New Jersey’s and others ruling such restrictions unconstitutional. “No other constitutional right has been so left to fend for itself in the lower courts,” warns a …

The Lying and Dying at the VA
  7 May 2014     12:08 am

The nation was shocked by charges that more than 1,400 vets lingered and 40 died on a secret waiting list at the Phoenix VA medical center. The list was concocted to conceal long waits for care. But what you haven’t heard is even worse. VA hospitals all over the country are manipulating the official electronic waiting list, and the deadly cover-ups have been going on for years.

The dirty tricks at the Phoenix VA came to light on April 24, when retired VA physician Samuel Foote exposed how the hospital evaded …

Wimping Out on Repeal
  30 Apr 2014     12:03 am

Top Republican Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Washington, is walking back comments attributed to her that Obamacare can’t be repealed. But she’s not the only one suggesting that the goal should be making changes within the framework of the health law. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, says the goal is to get the law “fixed.” Apparently, a lot of Republican lawmakers still haven’t read the law. If they had, they’d know the framework is corrupt.

Even presidential hopeful Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, speculated on Friday that repeal is unlikely, because it …

Liberate the West
  23 Apr 2014     12:06 am

Senators and governors from nine western states held a first-ever summit on Friday, April 18, in Salt Lake City, to win more control over the vast swaths of federal land within their borders. The summit had been planned before the standoff between the federal Bureau of Land Management and Nevada cattle rancher Cliven Bundy a week earlier focused national attention on the plight of the federally occupied West.

Rural residents there are being stripped of their livelihoods by federal agencies, which take orders from Washington, D.C., and don’t understand their ways …

The Long Goodbye to Sebelius
  17 Apr 2014     12:04 am

On Friday, President Barack Obama used the long-awaited resignation of Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius to claim victory for his namesake health law. “She got it fixed, got the job done,” he said. Don’t believe him.

? The law is called Obamacare, not Sebeliuscare. And sadly, there is plenty of trouble ahead. Aside from the website fiasco, few of Obamacare’s problems are owing to Sebelius alone. They are either baked in the law or caused by the hard-sell way the president has coaxed — and even lied to …

Pelosi and Schumer: Read the Constitution
  9 Apr 2014     12:04 am

Democrats are hyperventilating over a U. S. Supreme Court ruling on April 2, McCutcheon v. Federal Election Commission. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi claims the ruling will turn politics into a “money war.” Sorry, that happened a long time ago.

For the past two decades, unions have poured massive amounts into super PACs and other legal vehicles for advertising and get-out-the-vote efforts, which favor Democrats. What’s got Pelosi and other Democrats worried is competition. Last week’s high court ruling could mean more money for Republican candidates, even tea party activists.
The Supreme …

Lethal Lies About Hospital Infections
  2 Apr 2014     12:04 am

It’s hard to know which is worse, the dying or the lying.
A bacterial infection called C. diff is the No. 1 hospital-infection killer, according to information released by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on March 26. It kills more people than dreaded staph infections and about as many as AIDS.

What about the lying? Well, hospital personnel often tell patients and families that antibiotics are to blame. The CDC repeats that same lethal lie. Sorry, but the real culprit is inadequate cleaning in hospitals.
C. diff spreads through the …

The War Against Women Invades The Court
  28 Mar 2014     12:05 am

On Tuesday, a startling rift appeared on the U.S. Supreme Court — as the three female justices came out swinging like Brunnhildes — women warriors — for what they erroneously labeled an “entitlement” to employer-provided contraceptives and morning-after pills.

The justices were hearing oral arguments in Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby Stores Inc., a case hyped by the Democratic Party as a test for women’s rights. Justices Elena Kagan, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor jumped on Hobby Lobby’s attorney, interrupting his every sentence and pummeling him with questions taken right out …
