Black Children Are An Endangered Species

Black Children Are An Endangered Species

In 1939 (Margaret) Sanger created the previously mentioned “Negro Project,” which aimed to get blacks to adopt birth control. Through the Birth Control Federation, she hired black ministers (including the Reverend Adam Clayton Powell Sr.), doctors, and other leaders to help pare down the supposedly surplus black population. The project’s racist intent is beyond doubt. “The mass of significant Negroes,” read the project’s report, “still breed carelessly and disastrously, with the result that the increase among Negroes….in that portion of the population least intelligent and fit.” Sanger’s intent is shocking today, but she recognized its extreme radicalism even then. “We do not want word to go out,” she wrote to a colleague, “that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.” — Jonah Goldberg’s Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning

Revealingly enough, roughly 80 percent of Planned Parenthood’s abortion centers are in or near minority communities. — Jonah Goldberg’s Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning

Despite the fact that polls show that black Americans are more pro-life than their white counterparts, the Right hasn’t made much of an effort to reach out on that issue.

That appears to be changing, in Georgia at least, thanks to a new billboard campaign:

This year, Georgia Right to Life has launched a controversial ad campaign. Numerous billboards have appeared around Atlanta with the message “Black Children Are An Endangered Species.” These billboards are an effort to draw attention to the fact that African American women obtain a disproportionate number of abortions in Georgia.

Not surprisingly, the New York Times took issue with the ads. On Friday, they ran an article which argued that the ads were misleading since the fertility rate for black women in Georgia remains higher than the national average.

The Times, however, misses the point of the ads. The fact that a disproportionately high percentage of abortions are performed on black women is not well known outside of pro-life circles. Neither is the fact that Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger was a proponent of eugenics. These pieces of information might be of interest to the black community, especially since many surveys show that African-Americans are more likely to describe themselves as “pro-life” than whites.

Over at the Too Many Aborted website the billboards promote, they continue making the case for life:

Abortion is not a me issue. It’s not a you issue. It’s not a personal issue, nor is it just a woman’s issue. It is a human issue. And today, with over 40% of all black pregnancies ending in induced abortion, it is a human crisis.

…According to Planned Parenthood’s founder, Margaret Sanger, “we are paying for…an ever increasing, unceasingly spawning class of human beings who never should have been born at all.” Her eugenic Birth Control philosophy, to prevent the ‘unfit’, ‘feeble-minded’, ‘poor’ or ‘unwanted’, would have eliminated Abraham Lincoln, George Washington Carver, Rosa Parks, Ben Carson, and Oprah Winfrey…just to name a few. Today, abortion kills more African-Americans, per year, than heart disease, cancer, respiratory disease, accidents, homicides, suicide, and cancer—combined. Black women have abortions at over 3x the rate of white women. The truth screams loud and clear—we are killing our very future.

…Men need to step up and own up to their responsibility as fathers. Period. Women need to be told the truth about abortion. This issue is much more than one individual’s “rights”. This is the right of 3 individuals (father, mother, and unborn child), requiring the responsibility and life-affirming actions of those willing to defend the defenseless and speak for the voiceless.

I didn’t see the words “Republican” or “conservative” mentioned anywhere, but the more black Americans find out the truth about the abortion issue, the more they’re going to realize that the Republican Party is strongly pro-life and the Democratic Party is strongly pro-abortion.

Conservatives should hope billboard campaigns like this one spread across the entire country.
