Former Winter Soldier “Surprised” By Colleague’s Duplicity
  31 Jan 2010     4:44 pm      Ed Driscoll

“This isn’t the person I campaigned with back then,” John Kerry recently said of John Edwards. But Kerry’s surprise at the duplicity of his running mate doesn’t jibe with what Kerry’s former campaign manager wrote about the two men.

Robert Gibbs: KSM Will Be “Tried, Convicted, and Likely Executed,” Will “Meet His Maker”
  31 Jan 2010     4:43 pm      Sister Toldjah

Via MSDNC:
WASHINGTON – Accused Sept. 11 plotter Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is likely to be executed after being tried and convicted, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Sunday.
Gibbs spoke on CNN’s “State of the Union.” The Obama administration has begun looking for places other than the heart of New York City to prosecute Mohammed and four alleged co-conspirators in the face of fierce criticism tied to security and costs.
Here’s video of Gibbs’ remarks to a surprisingly and refreshingly aggressive John King on CNN:

Bbbbut what about the whole “fair trial” …

These Two Women Could Turn Me Into a Misogynist
  31 Jan 2010     4:37 pm      Lori Ziganto

Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar are an utter embarrassment to my gender. I find them offensive, as a woman. Idiocy, in action:

From NewsBusters:
On HLN’s Joy Behar Show on Thursday, Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg gave a racial explanation for Chris Matthews’ recent “I forgot he was black” remark about President Obama. Goldberg cracked that “this has been quite a year for the white man.” Behar replied, “Traumatic,” and Goldberg continued that “Traumatic in many ways because…you have to think before you speak.”
Whoopi goes on to say that calling black people articulate …

Sulzberger, Coordinate! Sulzberger, Coordinate!

Tax Problems For 5th District Candidate Ratowitz? (Illinois Primary, Fed 2)
31 Jan 2010     3:41 pm      Warner Todd Huston

David Ratowitz is presenting himself to voters as the business oriented, conservative candidate for their 5th District Congressional seat. Ratowitz says he represents “hard-fought professional achievement” and “personal resilience,” and says his “genuine free market outlook” makes him the perfect candidate for conservatives. Also, many of Mr. Ratowitz’ press releases state that he’s for fiscal responsibility and have taken the Obama administration to task for its bad fiscal policies. (www.ratowitzforcongress.com)
So, one would assume that Mr. Ratowitz’ own history should be above reproach. If not pristine, one would hope that any …

Heritage: Unions Ate Your Raise
31 Jan 2010     3:40 pm      Warner Todd Huston

James Sherk has a very good post over at the Heritage Foundation’s The Foundry blog about how unions have hurt us all by fighting for tax increases.

Unions almost never go on strike anymore. Instead, they fight to get more for their members by lobbying for tax increases. Unions spent tens of millions of dollars last year campaigning for higher taxes across the country: Illinois. California. Minnesota. Washington State. Arizona. In many cases they have succeeded.

Nearly every day now we are visited with more proof of how public employees unions are …

Stick a Cuckoo Fork in Chris Matthews; He’s Done
  31 Jan 2010     3:12 pm      Lori Ziganto

I told y’all that tingle up his leg was moving into his brain – or what passes for one. Watch the video. All I have to say, really, is: Dude. As your good buddy and frequent guest contributor on MSNBC,  Janeane Garofalo would say: Your racism is totally showing. Straight up:

“…I was trying to think about who he was tonight. And, it’s interesting he is post-racial, by all appearances. You know I forgot he was black tonight for an hour. You know he’s gone a long way to become a leader …

A Private Moment Captured: Obama and His Best Friend Forever
  31 Jan 2010     2:25 pm      Lori Ziganto

Our source, let’s just call her Jillary Plinton, sent us this snapshot of a private and oh-so-sweet moment, captured on film. Aww, isn’t it just precious? Obama all snuggled up with his Woobie ™.  I hear tell that he calls him “Prompty, my Best Friend Forever.”
Jillary informs me that Obama and Prompty sing the following duet whenever Obama is feeling particularly low, which has been happening more and more lately (pesky people expecting him to know things and do icky math and stuff!)
People can be so cold.
They’ll hurt you and …

Guess we can kiss a college football playoff goodbye now, too.
  31 Jan 2010     12:05 pm      TrogloPundit

Desperately seeking something they can: do right? Finish? Get some positive press for?
Whichever. All of them. None of the above. Dunno. The story:
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration is considering several steps that would review the legality of the controversial Bowl Championship Series, the Justice Department said in a letter Friday to a senator who had asked for an antitrust review.
My support for a college football playoff system is well documented. But…besides the obvious question of: why in the world can’t the U.S. …

Obama Does Good! He Might Actually Be Serious About Nuclear Power Plants
  31 Jan 2010     10:25 am      William Teach

You may remember Obama mentioning nuclear power plants during his snoozefest of a SOTU speech. For a change, he might actually be looking to get new ones built, so, if the following is true, kudos, Mr. President! Obama moves quickly to promote nuclear power
President Obama, who called for a “new generation” of nuclear power plants in his State of the Union address Wednesday, is quickly moving forward. He created a panel Friday to recommend ways to dispose of used nuclear fuel and is expected Monday to propose tripling loan guarantees …

A Serious Global Warming Report Based on……A Student’s Essay??
  30 Jan 2010     11:38 pm      Kathleen McKinley

2009/10 may be the banner years for liberal propaganda and bad policy exposed. From Van Jones, to ACORN, to backroom deals, to the stimulus bill.
But nothing has been more exposed than the politics surrounding global warming. First, just before the summit on climate change in Copenhagen (which enjoyed a record blizzard during the summit), it was revealed that the basic raw data of the Climate Research Unit had been lost or deleted, leaving no way to reproduce and validate independently its principal conclusions about global warming. It was also revealed …

Leftist tactics to scare the uninformed about America’s religious freedoms
  30 Jan 2010     9:08 pm      Bookworm

I got a very hysterical form letter from Americans United for Separation of Church and State. What’s impressive about it is that Barry Lynn, the Executive Director who purportedly authored this fevered screed, is totally uninformed about the nature of America’s Constitutional mandates regarding religion. Here’s what the First Amendment says:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition …

On MSNBC, Andrew Breitbart: One. David Shuster: Less Than Zero
  30 Jan 2010     7:59 pm      Lori Ziganto

Actually, Andrew Breitbart has way more than just one under his belt, but I’m only referring to the throw-down on MSNBC just the other day. Okay, I suppose it can’t really be called a throw-down, as it isn’t a fair fight when one of the participants is, you know, intellectually-challenged.  David Shuster isn’t the brightest eco-friendly bulb on the shelf, nor is he the most honest, as he proved once again  by lying to get Breitbart to appear on MSNBC.  Screen shots of emails and twitter feed can be found …

From the Even A Stopped Clock Is Right Twice A Day files:
  30 Jan 2010     2:18 pm      TrogloPundit

Blind squirrel, nut:
For weeks, the right has heckled Attorney General Eric Holder Jr. for his plans to try the alleged 9/11 conspirators in New York City…
Bring them to Wisconsin!
…and his handling of the Christmas bombing plot suspect.
And their non-handling of those Black Panthers who stood outside the polling places.
Now the left is going to be upset: an upcoming Justice Department report from its ethics-watchdog unit, the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), clears the Bush administration lawyers who authored the “torture” memos of professional-misconduct allegations.
True, we can’t call …

Justice Alito: A Fancier “You Lie”
  30 Jan 2010     1:16 pm      Lori Ziganto

Okay, maybe not a fancier “You Lie”,  but more refined, shall we say. I wonder if  Maureen Dowd will hear an  “unspoken ‘boy’ in the air” at the end of this one, due to the “history of racism” in Alito’s home state of — New Jersey.
POLITICO’s Kasie Hunt, who’s in the House chamber, reports that Justice Samuel Alito mouthed the words “not true” when President Barack Obama criticized the Supreme Court’s campaign finance decision.
“Last week, the Supreme Court reversed a century of law to open the floodgates for special interests …

Obama: Have Teleprompter, Will Travel
  30 Jan 2010     12:52 pm      Lori Ziganto

It’s his Woobie ™ !  How sweet; Obama and his woobie are never far apart. First, he took it along when speaking to 6th graders,  as I noted the other day.
Now, he had his good, old buddy by his side  when talking to a task-force — of like a dozen people.  No, really.
Instead of those books “Where’s Waldo?” they should now come out with a series called “Where’s Prompty?” Wouldn’t that be adorable? Children’s books based on the woobie of our first “playing dress-up” President.
Man, I miss …

My 42 Definitions of a Strong Society
  30 Jan 2010     12:38 pm      Morgan Freeberg

Yes, once again it is time to dig into the obsessive-compulsive-list-making “what’s been ripening in the innards of the smartphone” file. And nobody disagrees with me about any of it.
At least, when talking-out-loud most people don’t disagree with much of it. Being a liberal, lately, seems to involve saying something to the effect of “Oh in a perfect world I wish (insert some of what follows here)…BUT…we have all these problems, so therefore we must ‘invest’ in my program.” And being a “moderate” liberal versus an “extreme” liberal, seems more …

We’d feel pretty foolish if we’d spent billions trying to avert global cooling 30 years ago, wouldn’t we?
  30 Jan 2010     12:22 pm      TrogloPundit

From the MacIver Institute, a head-in-the-sand “denier” with a PhD:
A University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee professor is making headlines for his work suggesting the world is entering a period of global cooling.
“Now we’re getting a break,” Anastasios Tsonis, Distinguished Professor of Mathematics at UWM, said in an interview with the MacIver Institute.
Tsonis published a paper last March that found the world goes through periods of warming and cooling that tend to last thirty years. He says we are now in a period of cooling that could last up to fifty years.
Consensus! …

Watering Down the Purity Test
  30 Jan 2010     9:56 am      Morgan Freeberg

…because a fine delicacy of a dessert, mixed with sewage, is sewage. Therefore a “diluted” purity test is…?
From two months ago:
Republican leaders are circulating a resolution listing 10 positions Republican candidates should support to demonstrate that they “espouse conservative principles and public policies” that are in opposition to “Obama’s socialist agenda.” According to the resolution, any Republican candidate who broke with the party on three or more of these issues– in votes cast, public statements made or answering a questionnaire – would be penalized by being denied party funds or …
